00:00Baroness Doreen Lawrence has described someone involved in her son's murder, David Norris, as a coward and said that police must urgently investigate after he reportedly admitting to being part of the gang responsible for the fatal racist attack on Stephen Lawrence.
00:20During a public parole hearing for Norris, who is seeking release from his life sentence for Stephen Lawrence's murder, it was revealed that he had confessed to his involvement on several occasions since being imprisoned, with the first admission taking place back in 2018.
00:42Now, Baroness Lawrence said it was deeply shocking that the Met Police had known for years that Norris now accepted his role in the 1993 attack in South East London.
00:57She added that it was unacceptable that no further action had been taken despite this information being available to the police force.
01:07The Metropolitan Police have stated that officers have retained, remained committed to securing the arrest, prosecution and conviction of all those responsible.
01:21Now, outside the Royal Court of Justice, Baroness Lawrence said police must now urgently reopen their investigation.

01:31It has been incredibly painful for me listening to this person's application for release from prison.
01:39He is a racist who, with others, murdered my son Stephen.

01:46It is vital that this hearing took place in public, so that everyone could see and hear what was said by him about him.

02:04The only person he is sorry for is himself.

02:13He needs to look me in the eye and tell me exactly what he did and why he did it.
02:19Whilst the parole board will now have to make its decision, having listened over two days, the evidence to me is crystal clear.

02:36It is a danger to the public and danger to people like me.
02:41He was a violent racist and still a violent racist.
02:48He has not changed.
02:49It has been numbing and incredibly frustrating to sit and listen to him describe the murder of my son, but he is not telling the truth.
