00:17Welcome to the Mass Effect Andromeda Gameplay Series. In Mass Effect Andromeda you are the Pathfinder, the ultimate adventurer in
00:24a vast unexplored galaxy, on a mission to find a new home for humanity.
00:27Can you make it somewhere tropical? Nice, warm ocean, summer year round?
00:32Our first video will take a look at weapons and skills.
00:37Andromeda's action is built around fluid, fast-paced third-person combat.
00:40Our combat offers amazing freedom of movement with the use of a jump jet that allows you to jump, evade,
00:45and even hover while you're fighting.
00:48You'll also notice a new dynamic cover system that allows you to seamlessly use almost anything, including your own vehicle,
00:53for cover.
00:55All this freedom allows you to approach the battle in a way that suits your gameplay style.
01:00Let's take a closer look at our weapons.
01:02In Mass-Spec Andromeda, there are four categories of guns.
01:06Pistols, shotguns, and sniper and assault rifles.
01:10Plus a range of melee weapons for up-close combat.
01:13All guns are available to every player. There are no class restrictions.
01:16So if you decide you want to try something new, it's as easy as switching your loadout.
01:22Guns and gear in Andromeda fall into three technology types, based on where the tech comes from.
01:27Milky Way weapons typically use physical projectile ammunition that's similar to the types of weapons you might be familiar with
01:32from our original games, with some advancements, of course.
01:35These are high-impact projectile-based guns.
01:38They're great against most non-shielded targets, but require you to keep an eye on your ammo.
01:43Remnant weapons typically use beams, have a high rate of fire, and are extremely accurate.
01:47They use the overheat system and don't rely on ammo.
01:50So you'll never run out of ammo, but you'll have to wait for your gun to cool down from time
01:53to time.
01:56Helios weapons are technology from civilizations that live in the Helios cluster of Andromeda.
02:00They're generally plasma-based, which means they are slower speed, but benefit from heat-seeking technology.
02:05While some are charge-based, the longer you charge them before releasing, the harder they hit.
02:10Melee weapons vary in both damage and speed.
02:13Hard-hitting hammers do maximum damage.
02:16While lightning-fast shivs or swords allow you to get in and out of harm's way with maximum speed and
02:20precision.
02:22In addition to weapons, you can also develop skills and abilities.
02:25Like the weapons, there are no restrictions on what skills you can choose,
02:28and each of the three main categories is designed to facilitate a certain style of play.
02:32Combat skills are great if you want to focus on weapons, gear, and making your character the ultimate soldier.
02:37These skills focus on improving weapon damage and accuracy, as well as giving you the ability to use flat cannons,
02:44grenades,
02:46trip mines,
02:47and more.
02:49Tech skills allow you to equip your Pathfinder with more experimental weaponry,
02:53or focus on strategic improvements for you and your squad.
02:56Cryo-beam and flamethrower give you more offensive punch,
03:00while skills like invasion or energy drain weaken your opponents and make them easier to take down.
03:06Want a little extra help? Deploy your own Assault Turret.
03:10Last but not least, Biotics.
03:12By controlling Dark Energy, your Pathfinder can harness the power of mass and gravity.
03:16Biotic skills like Pull and Throw allow you to literally control the battlefield,
03:20using your enemies as a shield or even a weapon.
03:23Abilities like Annihilation Shield or Singularity can disrupt and damage anything or anyone caught up in their powerful grip.
03:30Each skill can be upgraded to become increasingly more devastating and effective.
03:34Each also has choices to make when upgrading, offering you more ways to customize your playstyle.
03:40Now that we have the basics down, let's put this into action.
03:43In this case, our Pathfinder is equipped with a sniper rifle and a shotgun,
03:47and they've got their three powers selected.
03:48You'll notice that different enemies each behave in unique ways.
03:51Some will keep their distance and try to snipe us.
03:54Others will charge right in and try to flush us out of cover.
03:59Sticky Grenades is an advanced version of the Omni Grenade combat skill.
04:03They're effective against just about anything, but they have a limited supply.
04:08Enemies each have different strengths and weaknesses.
04:10For most, headshots inflict maximum damage, but you'll need to pay attention to their health bars.
04:15Yellow means they've got armor and won't be as susceptible to certain weapons and powers.
04:20Blue means they're shielded, and in addition to being more resistant to Biotics,
04:24you'll generally need to deal with those shields before their health goes down.
04:27And just like you, their shields will recharge if you don't finish them off quickly.
04:32Tactical Cloak is a tech skill that allows you to evade enemy detection
04:35and inflict increased damage when attacking from cloak.
04:39And finally, Overload.
04:41Another tech skill that's great for taking out enemy shields and synthetic enemies.
04:45By holding it before releasing, you can even chain it to multiple enemies.
04:48And this is just one of the hundreds of combinations of weapons and skills you can try in Andromeda.
04:55Stay tuned for future installments where we'll show you our Profiles
04:58to give you an added boost in combat.
05:00Favorites, which allow you immediate access to your sets of powers so you can change up on the fly.
05:04And squad skills and commands.
05:06Take cover! Take cover!
05:07Take cover!
05:15Sì!
