00:00In spite of very, very big tariffs on Chinese electric cars, they are still gaining a massive
00:05foothold in Europe. Here are the details. Hello, my friends. Welcome to the channel.
00:10Europe has put huge tariffs on Chinese-made electric cars. There is a 10% tariff on all cars
00:21shipped from outside Europe to Europe, 10%. But Chinese car brands, they have to pay a lot more
00:28than that. It's an additional, on average, an additional 20% to 30% on top of that.
00:34In spite of that, though, one in 10 cars sold in Europe in December was Chinese. Chinese car makers
00:42hit a milestone in Europe in 2025, breaking sales records and challenging rivals' big gains from
00:49companies like MG, BYD, and Cherry. And Chinese automakers have been, as a result of what we're
00:57seeing, they're really expanding their position in Europe for the last few years. And they've been
01:04building out dealership networks, building out the infrastructure they need to sell a lot of cars
01:09there. Their growing presence is putting a lot of pressure on domestic rivals. In December,
01:16vehicles from Chinese brands claimed a record share of the total European market. The rise came during
01:21a wider upswing with both December and full-year 2025 sales, outpacing those of the previous year.
01:29Sales figures from DataForce, covering 98% of all car sales in the EU, UK, and EFTA car markets,
01:38show that 13.3 million vehicles were sold in Europe in 2025. That's an increase of about 300,000
01:49versus the previous year of 2024. So 13.3 million. AutoNews says that December played an outsized role
01:58on growth in the year. Monthly sales jumped from 1,070,000 to 1.15 million, driven by strong performances
02:08from several key areas, particularly even sales in the United Kingdom actually jumped up significantly.
02:14December marked more than just an overall upswing. For the first time, Chinese automakers collectively
02:20moved over 100,000 vehicles in a single month, with 109,900 finding buyers. Not only were overall
02:29December sales up 126%, but across the entire year, sales from looking at the full calendar year,
02:36those brands delivered 811,000 vehicles in total, which was up 99% from 2024. 99% growth is pretty
02:46scary
02:47if you're one of their rivals. That gave them a 6.1% share of the European market by the
02:52end of 2025.
02:53That figure might sound not significant, but there's a good chance they're going to double that 6.1%
02:59market share to, you know, 10, 12, even 15% within the next year to two years.
03:04The best-selling Chinese group was SAIC. That includes the MG brand, and a lot of people think MG
03:12is a British brand. It's not. It used to be. They sold 308,000 vehicles in Europe last year,
03:20up from 244,000 the year previous. MG accounted for 307,000. The remaining 530 came from the Maxxis
03:30brand. So MG did really well in Europe last year. In Australia, MG sales fell significantly because
03:38there's many other rivals selling at probably better prices for sometimes often a better product.
03:44BWD was next best with total 2025 sales hitting 186,600. That was an enormous increase from the 49,600
03:54they sold in 2024. So they've gone from 50,000 to 187,000. Yeah, more than triple in a single
04:04year.
04:05The surge came largely thanks to the CLU, the Dolphin Surf, and the Seed Line 9, plus the seal as
04:14well.
04:14The CLU alone accounted for 79,400 units. So more than half of their sales just came from the CLU,
04:22the SUV. 72,700 of those, though, were plug-in hybrids. So BWD is selling a lot of plug-in
04:30hybrids.
04:31And as a result, the best-selling plug-in hybrid in Europe was the CLU. That said, in Europe,
04:37people don't plug in their plug-in hybrids. Most studies say that a very small percentage of people
04:41actually plug in their plug-in hybrids. So it's not necessarily a good thing. Anyway, if you'd like to
04:46book a paid consultation, you can do so. And I'll put a link in the description below. If you want
04:52advice on what electric car to buy, solar systems, all that kind of stuff, you can do that. Cherry,
04:58they weren't far behind. They sold 120,000 vehicles in 2025, which was up from 17,000 in 2024.
05:06But get that, 17,000 in one year. They went from 17,000 to 120,000. That's more than a
05:15tenfold
05:16increase. The JQ brand made a huge entry. Sales jumped from 2,500 to 57,000. Omota grew from 14
05:26,500
05:26to 53,000. If you're wondering what I'm talking about, Cherry have multiple brands. It's very
05:31confusing. I think it's a really bad strategy. But anyway, Cherry have multiple brands and Omota and
05:36JQ are Cherry brands. The Geely group posted really good results as well with 400,000 or nearly 401,000
05:44vehicles sold in Europe. Of those, 332,000 were Volvo. Anyway, sales were up also for Geely's other
05:52brands, including its Lincoln co-brand, Polestar brand, and Zika. Polestar, they delivered 47,600 cars
06:00compared to 30,000 the year before. And the biggest reason for that increase for Polestar was the Polestar 4,
06:07which accounted for 26,000 of the 47,000 total. So the Polestar 4 is by far Polestar's most popular
06:15car.
06:16Leap Motor, which are backed by Stellantis, they climbed to sixth place among Chinese automakers in Europe.
06:23They delivered 33,600 cars. The TO3 hatchback made up 60% of their sales. And the TO3 is, I
06:31believe,
06:32for the electric. Chinese automakers are now starting to challenge more established brands
06:37in the rankings. And this will continue to get more and more challenging for European brands to compete
06:42with them. One reason they're going to assemble a lot of their cars in Europe to avoid tariffs.
06:48MG finished the year at number 16 overall in Europe, ahead of Cupra, Nissan, and Fiat.
06:55BOD was number 22, beating Suzuki, Mini, and Mazda. So you can see here just how small companies like
07:02Mazda and Suzuki and Nissan are in Europe. JQ, Emoto, and Polestar also cracked the top 35.
07:10Very, very interesting, isn't it? To see, imagine if we could fast forward to 2035,
07:14how would these Chinese automakers be going in Europe? I think they'll probably take 50% market
07:19share by 2035. And the tariffs, they're finding a way to get around them. They're just setting up
07:26their own assembly plants in Europe and in places like Turkey, and even I've heard of in Northern
07:31Africa possibly as well. That's their way of getting around it. So yeah, the Chinese are going
07:36to continue to take market share in Europe and also in places like Australia, places like Brazil,
07:42Mexico. So this is happening all around the world. Let me know what your thoughts are guys in the
07:48comment section. Thank you for watching. Guys, if you want to install solar panels, a home battery,
07:55or a home charger, the best way to do this for your situation is to go to the links in
08:01the description
08:02below and they'll take you to a page where you can compare everyone. So depending on where you,
08:09it doesn't matter where you live. A lot of people email me all the time saying, well, what solar
08:12system should I get? Who should I go with? What battery should I get? What electric charges should
08:16I get? Well, click in the links in the description and you can actually compare all the different
08:22choices and find the best deal for you. I'll put that link in the description below. Additionally,
08:30there is a battery savings calculator link and also a federal battery rebate calculator.
08:36I personally have found that I'm not paying for electricity at all. And that's including
08:41charging my two electric cars and also running my home power, my home sauna, nothing, not paying
08:48anything at all. And I think a lot of people are getting misled. They think that getting a battery
08:52is not worth it. Actually, I think it is worth it. So those links are in the description below.
08:57Bye-bye.
