00:00Yes, it should. Lights on the cars because it is still technically being considered a wet track.
00:06Not quite sure that that holds much weight, but we will have the green flag flying at the back of
00:12the grid.
00:12It's Van Langendongen, Behrmann on the front row, but keep an eye on Ethan Lennon from third.
00:18The lights go out. We're underway. It was a good start from Lennon.
00:21Ari Bansel didn't get underway. That is risky.
00:24Oh, the Jense car, the number 20 of Borenstein into the rear.
00:30It felt somewhat inevitable there with Bansel struggling to get off the line, unfortunately.
00:35And that was a heavy hit to the rear of the number 46 car at the front of the field.
00:41It's side by side for second place. Lennon alongside Behrmann.
00:45Van Langendong has a clear lead going through the opening turns.
00:48Chiara Patighe, the only driver to go through the runoff at turns one and two, rejoins around the Bollards at
00:54turn three.
00:55We'll be hoping she hasn't lost out to Panzeri in the female trophy order as a result of that excursion.
01:01One of the crab racing drivers diving to the inside there.
01:04I think that was the, well, I'm not sure which one it was actually, so let's skate past it.
01:08The top 10 running through the opening corners.
01:11Andre Rodriguez, I think, has had a good start.
01:14That was him going up against Timo Jungling, and I think they're on the fringes of the top 10.
01:19Of course, the field has somewhat scarpered around and shifted a bit, courtesy of the evasive action being taken for
01:27Ari Bansel.
01:28Safety car is out, unsurprisingly, so the field now has to neutralise.
01:32All these two, three wide further back moments have to be neutralised and sorted out.
01:39But that was a dramatic start.
01:42It was a start that has shuffled the deck in the order, and certainly that won't have been a pleasant
01:46impact for Ari.
01:47Let's hope, above all else, that both drivers are OK.
01:50Yes, indeed.
01:51So Ari, of course, trying to hold on to second in the championship as well against Thomas Behrman.
01:56Well, Behrman is running nicely there in second position.
02:00And whilst I'm sure this isn't the way that Thomas would have liked to have seized an advantage in that
02:04battle,
02:05he will gladly take the points if they're presented to him.
02:07So safety car scrambled there, and at least it's not a full race stoppage, which I feared at first.
02:13They are going to take the cars down the pit lane just to keep them away from the scene of
02:17the accident down the main straight
02:18to allow the marshals and recovery crews to get ideal access to the drivers.
02:23It looks as though they're both out of the cars.
02:24There is Ari Bansel looking on, and that will have done quite a lot of damage to the back of
02:29his car.
02:30The gearboxes, the drivetrain, everything sort of hanging over the back axle of the car.
02:36That will have done quite a bit of damage to his car.
02:38In fact, both cars will require significant repair work if we're going to see them out for race number three
02:43later on.
02:44There you can see they're sort of welded together, aren't they?
02:46Which is always a frightening look with both drivers out of the car.
02:49That is good news to Herr Borenstein, who would have had no time to brace himself for that.
02:54It is a driver's worst nightmare, isn't it?
02:57We've had quite a few drivers stalling on the grid, actually, this season, and it's a miracle, quite frankly.
03:02We've got this far without them being collected.
03:04It, unfortunately, was Theo Borenstein, who really ran out of luck there, didn't have time to take evasive action,
03:11and it takes them both out of the race.
03:14But we believe both drivers are OK, and that is the main thing.
03:17Yeah, absolutely right.
03:19Thomas Behrman has finished in, or is running in second place,
03:25so that will have a big impact now on the vice championship battle as well.
03:29He can't secure it from second, but Bansill being off the track does heavily swing it in favour of Thomas
03:37Behrman.
03:38But to confirm, we've heard that both drivers out of the car, I think, quite quickly.
03:42Theo Borenstein may have hopped across the circuits over the pit wall,
03:47which means that we haven't actually seen him, but we saw him,
03:52well, the camera op, saw him off-lens moving away from the situation under his own steam.
03:58So he's all good.
03:59So is Ari Bansill.
04:01And let's hopefully see them back out, but it will be a hard stretch from here.
04:06So the start there for Ari Bansill.
04:09He did get underway initially, and then the car just kind of gave way underneath him almost there,
04:14maybe just not quite getting enough power through the car off the clutch.
04:17And the number 20, the innocent bystander, really nothing that Borenstein could do about that.
04:24And the cars will now be recovered.
04:26It will be a couple of laps, I suspect, because they can't hoist two cars up safely.
04:31They're going to have to extract them from each other and then get them.
