00:00We've got a chance here to set the floor, courtesy of Gatorade, all fueled up and ready to go for
00:04this one.
00:05On the court for Cleveland, LeBron and Love are the deadly forward pair.
00:10Thomas and Smith teaming up in the backcourt, and it's Thompson in at the five.
00:15What can you say about the playmaking ability of Draymond Green?
00:19He has evolved, Doris, into a point forward for one of the most high-powered offenses in NBA history.
00:25Right, Draymond Green makes this system work.
00:27He's got tremendous vision, he can handle the basketball, can create for his teammates,
00:33and most importantly, he's an unselfish guy who wants his teammates to score.
00:44A free throw drops for Green.
00:46We just admire Draymond Green for so many things.
00:49This guy is a talkative, passionate guy who certainly fires up the group around him.
01:05Both free throws good from Green.
01:09You know, without a lot of shot blocking on the interior, the Cavs play a very conservative defensive style.
01:15A low rate of steals.
01:16They want to stay in front and prevent penetration.
01:20Now here's Thomas.
01:22Wallace with it.
01:23Now Green defending.
01:25Durant with the steal.
01:27On the wing, Thompson.
01:31Not going to go that time.
01:33James with some nice D.
01:35And for the Cavs, some defensive regression from a top-ten defense in 2016.
01:40Doris to a bottom-ten last year.
01:42Yeah, it's hard to dispute the notion that their offense carried them.
01:46Now some would attribute that to coasting in the regular season.
01:49But still, their aim was to win it all.
01:52And tough to do that if you don't defend at a high level.
01:55Out of bounds.
01:56Golden State takes possession.
02:08And the Warriors with possession here.
02:12And the Warriors with possession here.
02:14Curry kicks to Green.
02:18Duran, wide open.
02:20He fires.
02:21Good.
02:21And it's Green picking up the assist.
02:23And this is Duran's game, right?
02:25As soon as he catches the ball, he's ready.
02:27Pre-shot preparation outstanding.
02:30Thompson is screen on Thompson.
02:33Smith for three.
02:35They get it again.
02:37Nice shot by Thompson.
02:39That's all about the positioning right there.
02:41Doesn't let anybody beat him to the spot before he can get the follow-up.
02:46Durant kicks to Curry.
02:48Another three for Golden State.
02:51As great a score as Kevin Durant is, he is an unselfish player and takes great pride in getting his
02:57teammates a good look.
02:59Now here's Love.
03:03On the wing, James.
03:05Defended by Durant.
03:06Off target from the baseline.
03:08One for four right now.
03:10A little sluggish coming out of the gate.
03:15Smith against Thompson.
03:17And it's Kevin Love with the foul.
03:20That'll be his second foul at the game.
03:22And that's his second foul already.
03:24And that's going to force him to tone down his aggression defensively.
03:29Jay Crowder's jacked in for the Cavaliers.
03:32Now here's Curry.
03:33Here's Pachulia.
03:34Off to a good start as he hits his first shot attempt.
03:37You look at the influences and former coaches of Steve Kerr and it's easy to see why Kerr has been
03:42a success as a coach.
03:43Well, I think if you look about how this man goes about his business, it's important to recognize he played
03:50for Phil Jackson and Greg Popovich and certainly takes advantage of the wisdom he learned from two of the all
03:56-time greats.
03:56Think back to his college coach, Luke Olsen.
03:59So much of his offensive approach with the fast pace and the discipline came from Luke.
04:04It's so smart to take a little bit from each one of the mentors and the guys you've played for.
04:10He gives them a double-digit lead.
04:12Thompson's got his first three points of the game.
04:15All these open threes they're giving up have really been the driving force on this run.
04:21They could use a big shot here to get this offense going.
04:24Too many empty possessions right now.
04:27They need to basket.
04:28The screen from Thompson and the wide-open shot from Crowder.
04:32The Cavaliers again can't hit.
04:34Warriors leading by 11.
04:36And now we'll go to David Aldridge.
04:37You spoke with Tyronn Lue.
04:39Well, Kevin, I asked him what the strategy was offensively.
04:42And he said, look, we want to avoid having to take so many outside shots.
04:46They want to exploit what he described as a mismatch inside.
04:50He said, we have the talent down low to make things very difficult on those guys.
04:55And we're going to use it.
04:57Kevin?
04:57Thank you, David.
04:59And the Warriors making a change here.
05:01Iguodala's checked in.
05:09One shot.
05:12One shot.
05:23The free throw drops for Durant.
05:26It is a thing of beauty to watch the Warriors make that extra pass and create such easy scoring chances.
05:33Their passing is incredible.
05:35The unselfish nature of the team is incredible.
05:38I mean, this has got to be one of the best passing teams ever.
05:41So, timeout called here.
05:43The first for Cleveland.
05:45Last season, the Warriors led the NBA in assists as a team.
05:49And it wasn't even close.
05:51Doris, they averaged, as you were saying, over 30 a game.
05:55Right, Kevin.
05:56I think the key is every player at every position is able to make a pass.
06:00The efficiency of the offense comes because of the quality of shots they get.
06:05But all of that is entertaining and effective basketball because they're tremendously unselfish passers.
06:12The Cavaliers trail by 14.
06:17Outside Thomas.
06:22James against Iguodala.
06:27To stop the run.
06:28And LeBron with a nice bucket inside.
06:32LeBron's got his first two points.
06:34That's it.
06:35When LeBron is working near the rim, his strength becomes readily apparent.
06:39There's a screen.
06:41Back to Curry.
06:43From deep three-point range.
06:45And it's LeBron James with the rebound.
06:47Cavaliers have gone just two of seven so far.
06:50A little bit of a slow start for them.
06:53Thomas dishes to LeBron.
06:56Some nice passing by Cleveland here.
06:59Thompson sets the pick for Crowder.
07:02A picture-perfect screenplay, and the jumper's good.
07:05Now, Crowder is not going to be disrupted.
07:07This guy has razor-sharp focus on contested opportunities.
07:13Curry passes to Thompson.
07:18Iguodala outside.
07:22Back to Thompson.
07:24Shot clock at six.
07:26And Curry has it in the corner.
07:29Another miss by Curry.
07:31The Cavaliers trail by 10.
07:34James kicks to Thompson.
07:36And a lot of contact on that one, so he'll shoot two here.
07:40It's on Kevin Durant.
07:42Well, LeBron starting to turn out some players, right?
07:45Out of Toronto, Canada, Tristan Thompson.
07:48He doesn't have the most expansive offensive skill set,
07:51but, guys, his motor is as good as it gets.
08:01Two shots.
08:11And he can't get the first one.
08:14And Thompson, one of the most relentless rebounders in the NBA.
08:18Well, this is the elite skill he brings to the table.
08:21His durability and nightly effort on the boards make him a hugely valuable player,
08:27worthy of that contract.
08:28Catching up on the changes for Golden State.
08:31West has checked in for Draymond Green.
08:33Patrick McCaw comes in for Klay Thompson.
08:36And it's Livingston in for Steph Curry.
08:38Thompson knows he needs to keep working on that free throw shot.
08:42It definitely needs improvement.
08:44Livingston kicks to Iguodala.
08:46He dishes it to West.
08:48They set the screen.
08:50Pass to Iguodala.
08:55Now, here's Livingston.
08:57He's covered by Rhodes.
08:58Outside for Durant.
09:00Stolen by Rhodes.
09:02Out of dishes to LeBron.
09:07Thompson right side.
09:09Good.
09:09And the assist goes to LeBron.
09:12Thompson's got five.
09:13Just an example of what sets LeBron apart from everyone else.
09:17The ability to set up his teammates for easy scores while being so dominant himself.
09:23Now, here's Livingston.
09:26Pick by West.
09:31It's Durant on the wing.
09:32Defended by Crowder.
09:35Iguodala, no good.
09:36The Cavaliers trail by seven.
09:38Five-second differential between the shot clock and the game clock.
09:41Shot by Crowder.
09:42No good.
09:46Durant, the pass to Iguodala.
09:55There's a good screen.
09:57There's the dish to Livingston.
09:59He feeds it to Durant.
10:02They need this one.
10:03And the jumper is on the mark.
10:05Eight points for him.
10:07Well, good luck trying to keep Kevin Durant from making this shot.
10:10He feels like he can get it off at any time.
10:13And so it's the Colvin State Warriors.
10:15Ahead by nine as the quarter comes to a close.
10:19Their lead is where it is because they've gotten good shots.
10:21A lot of good shots.
10:23We've got more in store for you right after this.
10:37And LeBron James trying to will his Cavaliers team to a title.
10:42Teammate Kevin Love says LeBron made it clear from the start what he expected.
10:48He sat us down right before the first practice and kind of spoke about what he thought everyone should bring
10:55to the table.
10:56And, you know, we had to hold up our end of the bargain.
11:00When someone like LeBron talks about what you need to bring to the table, you better bring it.
11:05No doubt about that.
11:07I think if they just keep following LeBron's advice, the sky's the limit.
11:14Welcome back, everyone, to lopsided first quarter.
11:17And the book's all ready as we start this second quarter.
11:19And from what we've seen so far from the Warriors, how would you grade them?
11:23They've gotten that perimeter game going in that first.
11:26And for me, that was the difference.
11:28It was huge, no doubt.
11:30And it seems like they simply can't miss from downtown.
11:34McCaw is out there with Livingston.
11:36And it's Young.
11:37And it's West.
11:38And it's Igudala in at the power forward position.
11:41That's the group for the Golden State Warriors to start the second quarter.
11:51Outside Rose.
11:53Floats one up.
11:54And it's good on the way in.
11:57Rose has got the first points up on the board here in the second quarter for the Cavs.
12:02And in terms of just how explosive this Warriors team can be,
12:06they can get hot over a course of a few minutes.
12:09And Doris just put a team away.
12:11The way they can shoot from deep and then play defense is just overwhelming.
12:15How often have we seen, Kev, the game might be a two or three possession game.
12:19And within seconds, all of a sudden, they're up 20.
12:22They're incredibly deep shooting.
12:24Their ability to play off their own made shots and build momentum can steamroll a team.
12:29Now, let's go to the sideline and catch up with our Hall of Famer, David Aldrin.
12:34Guys, the league may have never seen a player with more control on and off the court than LeBron James.
12:40He is a superstar, a playmaker, a coach on the floor.
12:44Some say he's the GM.
12:46He even has a stake in a player agent business.
12:49LeBron says it's his dream to one day own an NBA team.
12:53Well, he's certainly getting some practice.
12:55Kevin?
12:56No question about it, David.
12:58He's well on his way.
13:00As important a player as we've ever seen in basketball.
13:03Now, here's Rose.
13:04After the miss from Andre Iguodala.
13:07Rose kicks to Corvett.
13:09Clock at four.
13:10Let's it fly.
13:12Rose, no good.
13:14Boy, I'll tell you, he has plenty of space, but it looked like a little bit of a hitch in
13:18that release.
13:23Livingston with it.
13:24He's had some playing time, but no scoring yet from him.
13:27And there's the foul on Jay Crowder.
13:30That's his first foul.
13:32Different look here for the Warriors.
13:34Pachulia, he's checked in for West.
13:36Green comes in for Andre Iguodala.
13:39Klay Thompson, he's checked in for Patrick McCall.
13:42And Stephen Curry subbed in for Sean Livingston.
13:45Cleveland also making some changes.
13:47Smith comes in for Kyle Corvin.
13:48And Thomas subbed in for Derrick Rose.
13:51Now Shumpert.
13:52After the miss three from Klay Thompson.
13:55And Shumpert kicks to Crowder.
14:00The feed to Shumpert.
14:02Cleveland moving it around.
14:07Thomas against Curry.
14:10Count the basket.
14:11Thomas got his first bucket in this one.
14:13Kevin, I've never seen a player Isaiah Thomas' size with such a knack for making contested shots close to the
14:20basket.
14:20Curry dishes to Young.
14:24There's a whistle and it goes on Isaiah Thomas.
14:27That's his first foul.
14:29Of course you talk about versatility of players, but as a broadcaster, been a courtside reporter, team analyst, a studio
14:35host, you name it.
14:36What do you prefer to do?
14:38What do you like most?
14:39There's no question about it, Kev.
14:40The analyst role is the absolute most fun.
14:43Now the only thing that might push that over the top is to sit beside the great Kevin Harlan.
14:49And the wide open shot from Green.
14:51Good, and Curry gets the assist.
14:53Green's got five points.
14:55How good is Draymond Green as a stretch for a power forward who can really knock down perimeter jump shots?
15:05Smith, the best, it's out.
15:12It's tipped.
15:13Once again, Pachulia turning the shooter away.
15:16And he uses his length so well.
15:20The pass to Thompson.
15:22And another three for Golden State.
15:25Yeah, there's six points on consecutive three balls.
15:28They're finding holes now in the deep.
15:31And the Cavaliers call time here.
15:34Yeah, and Steph Curry, you know, maybe not putting up the numbers he did from that impressive MVP campaign,
15:40but he is still one of the most feared players in the league on offense.
15:45And when he wants to, he can take over a game, and there's just nothing you can do about it.
15:51And with Curry and his ability to put a team away in one quarter break, it's absolutely incredible.
15:57I mean, Curry just has that ability to end the game's competitiveness in a short span.
16:03What is amazing is he does so much and will often sit out the fourth quarter because of the lead
16:09he's helped to build.
16:11Durant's checked in for Young.
16:13Then for the Cavaliers, Tristan Thompson, he's checked in for Crowder.
16:16And LeBron's subbed in for Shumpert.
16:19And so he draws the foul on the shot, a trip to the line to shoot two.
16:23And guys, you have to be careful in how you guard Smith.
16:26He's so good at drawing contact.
16:30Well, I'll tell you, for a long time, the reputation of J.R. Smith, not ideal.
16:35But, you know, a little bit of poor decision-making, unfocused defensively.
16:39He's really matured.
16:40He's gotten better on and off the court.
16:43Shoot two, gentlemen.
16:58We throw good, Smith and J.R. Smith, a natural offensive.
17:03But Doris' defense has come a long way, too.
17:06Amazing what winning titles can do.
17:08You start to appreciate what it takes to be successful.
17:11And you go back to his offense, though.
17:13A very good three-point shooter, even under great defensive pressure.
17:22Smith hits them both.
17:24And Smith needs to continue to work on improving his shot from the free-throw line.
17:30Over in the corner, Green.
17:33And a great assist by Curry as that one goes in.
17:37Curry's got four assists in the game.
17:39The Cavaliers trail by 12.
17:44And here is Thomas.
17:48Love outside.
17:52Feeds it to James.
17:55Over Durant.
17:58Here's Thompson.
18:00And the layup's good off the glass.
18:02Thompson's got seven.
18:03Well, we've seen that movie a few times, haven't we?
18:06An easy bucket in the paint.
18:08Curry kicks to Durant.
18:11Over James.
18:13And another basket for Golden State.
18:15How about the passing?
18:16They are moving the ball without any thought.
18:20Without any individual legitimacy.
18:25Outside Thomas.
18:31There's a minute left in the first half of basketball.
18:33Passes it to LeBron.
18:34LeBron.
18:38Outside Thomas.
18:41It's deflected.
18:46Oh, a nice defensive play to disrupt the alley-oop.
18:50LeBron with it.
18:51Picked up by Thompson.
18:53No one near Smith as he lets it go.
18:55And he's good on the three ball.
18:58Smith's got five points now this quarter.
19:00And really, Smith is always looking to fire as soon as he touches the ball.
19:05The D has to be more aware of that quick trigger.
19:08Green dishes to Curry.
19:09For three, Durant.
19:12It's rebounded by Cleveland.
19:14Love's got his fourth rebound in this one.
19:20James in the post.
19:22Pachulia covering.
19:23And Steph Curry with the foul.
19:26That's his first foul.
19:36LeBron kicks to Rose.
19:43Dishes it to Korver.
19:44Thompson is screen on green.
19:48A fadeaway.
19:49That's good.
19:50And the Warrior lead is cut down now to just seven on the bucket from LeBron.
19:54LeBron has become such an accomplished mid-range shooter.
19:58You've got to crowd him or he's going to drop that one in every time.
20:01And so it's the Golden State Warriors bringing the quarter to a close with a seven-point lead.
20:07Their defense has been active and effective.
20:10And a chance now to send it over to David Aldridge standing by courtside.
20:14David.
20:16Thank you, Kevin.
20:18Draymond, a strong first half offensively for the team.
20:21What are you doing right?
20:24I mean, we're just letting them show us what's open.
20:26You know, you've got to just make sure we stay patient on the offensive end and let them tell us
20:30what play to make, where the open man is.
20:32We've been doing a great job of that.
20:33We've got to keep it up in the second half.
20:36Yeah, the defense leads you to the open man.
20:38Thanks.
20:39Back to you, Kevin.
20:40Thank you, David, for that interview.
20:42And we'll see you back here after the break for third quarter basketball.
20:49And now, the 2K Sports Halftime Show.
20:51Hello again, everybody.
20:52Ernie Johnson here along with Shaquille O'Neal and Kenny the Jet Smith.
20:55Time to check out the first half of action.
20:58A tremendous start for Kevin Durant.
21:01He had 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal.
21:05Hey, big fella, what's your take on Golden State so far?
21:08The 3-point shot was their best friend.
21:10I agree with the strategy.
21:11When it's working, take advantage of it.
21:13I don't really like it.
21:14Live by the jumper, die by the jumper.
21:15But tonight, they're living, and they're living good, baby.
21:19And Kenny, what'd you see from Cleveland?
21:21Well, it's never easy to play on a roll.
21:24And the score reflects that.
21:25Just doesn't seem like they're well prepared for this matchup.
21:28Every time they tried to make a run, they got derailed.
21:31I think to refocus their efforts in the second half,
21:34they're going to need to play with a lot more determination
21:37for a chance to win this.
21:45And that will wrap up our halftime report,
21:48as it's just about time for the start of the second half.
22:03Now the third quarter of the hit going.
22:06What a game we're seeing from Kevin Durant.
22:08Well, they've done a good job of letting the game come to them,
22:11and really few forced shots here so far.
22:14I think, Greg, we're seeing a couple things.
22:16Terrific play calling, unselfish nature, and quality shooting.
22:20That makes for good offense.
22:29Here's James.
22:30And so in the game for the Cavaliers,
22:32Thomas and Smith teaming up in the backcourt.
22:35The two stars, LeBron and Love, making up the forward positions.
22:38And it's Thompson in at the five, down low.
22:42Now here's Thomas.
22:43Thomas, they trail by seven.
22:48Five on the clock, and Draymond Green picks up the foul.
22:52That's his first foul.
22:54And really, these are some of the toughest calls an official has to make.
23:11And Thomas has it in the corner.
23:15Love with the screen on Green.
23:17Thomas with the ball.
23:18And Curry picks him up defensively.
23:20And Steph Curry with the foul.
23:22That'll be his second foul of the game.
23:26And here's Thomas.
23:31To the inside.
23:33He's looking for LeBron and finds it.
23:35Isn't this what we've come to expect the great point guards to do?
23:39Thomas effective spotting his teammates when they're open.
23:42Warriors leading by five.
23:44And LeBron James last season playing in his seventh consecutive NBA Finals.
23:49Doris, his streak only surpassed by the great Bill Russell.
23:52And for context, Kevin, remember, in the 60s when Bill Russell played, the Finals were just the second round.
23:59What LeBron is doing is so much harder.
24:02To think that in 12 postseasons he has been to the Finals eight times, nothing short of astounding.
24:09Now Thomas, after the missed three from Stephen Curry.
24:13Smith, no luck.
24:14And on an open look like that, he's very gifted at making the weak coverage pay.
24:19Curry passes to Thompson.
24:23Green with the screen on Thomas.
24:27Back to Thompson.
24:29Shoots it up.
24:30Good.
24:30And Curry gets the assist.
24:32Eight points for Klay Thompson.
24:34You have to admire the focus of Klay Thompson.
24:37This guy feels comfortable shooting over a defender in his grill.
24:40It's a pick by Love.
24:47Pass to James.
24:50Latre.
24:52Count it.
24:52And the Warrior lead has been cut down to just four points in the bucket from Love.
24:56Kevin Love specializes in finding the open space on the floor.
25:00Pays off with a nice catch and shoot.
25:06Curry is inside.
25:07Thomas is on him.
25:08The shot by Curry.
25:09No good.
25:10Cleveland's gone one of two from beyond the arc since coming out of the break.
25:17Outside Thomas.
25:19The screen from Thompson.
25:23Thomas goes in.
25:25Loses his man off the screen and lays it up and in.
25:29Now just a two-point Warrior lead.
25:34And the Warriors decide to take their first time out here.
25:37You know, it's interesting.
25:39Kevin Love almost two different players, right, guys?
25:41I mean, a bruising offensive rebounder who can battle inside, but also a skilled perimeter shooter.
25:46That's a rare combination.
25:49And the three-point shot is a growing part of Kevin Love's game.
25:52Well, I think it's certainly something he's added since coming to the NBA.
25:56From barely shooting any early on in his career where he was a flat back-to-the-basket scorer,
26:01now three-pointers account for almost half of his field goal attempts.
26:15Different look here for the Warriors.
26:17West is checked in for Pachulia.
26:19Young comes in for Draymond Green.
26:21McCaw, he's checked in for Thompson.
26:23And it's Livingston in for Curry.
26:25Crowder, he's checked in for the Cavaliers.
26:28Shumper comes in for Smith.
26:30Now, here's Livingston.
26:31Wyatt so far offensively, searching for his first points of the game.
26:35And the great shooters know when they've got enough opening to go for the three.
26:40I didn't think it was a bad choice on that possession.
26:43Durant with the steal.
26:45Now the Warriors moving it up.
26:49And count it.
26:50And a chance for one more at the free-throw line.
26:53Well, you see, if you're going to foul him, you've got to wrap Kevin Durant up.
26:56He's too good at absorbing contact and finding a way to score.
27:00And something that surprised me last season was the play of Kevin Durant on the defensive end.
27:05He's always been, Doris, considered a solid defender.
27:08But he seemed to make a bigger jump last year in how he impacted that end of the floor.
27:12Well, let's remember, Kev, that there was so much talk about who would protect the rim for the Golden State
27:18Warriors
27:18when Kevin Durant came aboard.
27:20Turns out, he was their rim protector.
27:23This guy has a career high in blocks and formed an incredible duo with Draymond Green up front.
27:28Just great stuff.
27:33Here is Rhodes.
27:41He kicks to James.
27:47Outside jumper.
27:48Let's the three fly.
27:52Offensive rebound.
27:53And there's the whistle on the shot.
27:55Took the foul.
27:56Shot misses.
27:57He'll be shooting two.
27:59And Golden State gets called for the foul.
28:02And Doris coming into the NBA.
28:04Love's game was centered around the basket.
28:06A double-double machine.
28:07Well, think about this, Kev.
28:08One of five players in the last three decades to average over 15 rebounds for an entire season.
28:14He did that in 2011.
28:16And he still remains a factor on the boards because he's got terrific understanding of positioning
28:21and great lower body strength.
28:32No good on the free throw.
28:33Well, he has a knack for getting to the free throw line.
28:36And once he's there, odds are pretty good he's making them.
28:39Andre Iguodala.
28:41He's checked in for Durant.
28:42And Cleveland also making a change.
28:44Korver's checked in.
28:53He hits the second from the line.
28:55And Doris, so many players do tend to shy away from contact,
28:59which players, in your opinion, really love the physical aspect of the game.
29:02Really helps their game.
29:03Well, let's go old school.
29:05And the ground and pound game of Zach Randolph.
29:08The guy doesn't have an inch in terms of his vertical jump,
29:11but has managed to be well into his second decade in the NBA.
29:16For me, Zach, Z-Bo doing work on the box, a thing of beauty.
29:20Here's Rose.
29:21The Warriors making the shot.
29:25And he gets the shot to fall after coming off the pick.
29:28Rose has got his second basket of the game.
29:30You know, the assist has to go to the screen on that play.
29:33Gave him all the room he needed to rise and fire.
29:37Pass to McCaw.
29:41Kicks to Livingston.
29:45Iguodala outside.
29:48McCaw, the pass to West.
29:50Just free to shoot.
29:51Over Love.
29:53Good D from Love.
29:55The Cavaliers trail by four.
29:57Outside Shumpert.
30:04Proud or a screen on Iguodala.
30:06Here's Shumpert.
30:08Plays it up and banks it in.
30:10Shumpert's got his first points of the game.
30:12And Shumpert's so savvy, guys.
30:14Knows how to use both the rim and his body to protect the ball inside.
30:19Iguodala with a screen on Shumpert.
30:21Shot off the screen.
30:23A tad short, but it's good off the front iron.
30:26And the Warriors lead by four.
30:28Oh, nice screen.
30:29Really a poor defensive reaction and the obvious result.
30:33You simply can't give him that.
30:35You have to fight through the screen and at least get a hand in the face of the shooter.
30:39Now here's Rhodes.
30:45Love.
30:46He hangs in there and cashes in on the second chance points.
30:49You know, that's what you like to see from Love.
30:51Fighting inside to get a score off a missed opportunity.
30:56Good dish to Livingston.
31:01And he banks in the layup.
31:04Livingston's got four this quarter.
31:05And you gotta love the big bucket and the paint in this sort of a grind it out game.
31:14Outside rows.
31:15Love outside.
31:18And it's off from three-point range.
31:21Two-second difference between shot clock and game clock.
31:24Young.
31:25They grab their own miss.
31:27Here's Livingston.
31:29Battles through traffic and lays it in.
31:32Livingston's got six.
31:34His hard work on the backboard really just has given them more opportunities to score.
31:39It's a pick by Love.
31:42They set the pick for three.
31:46No good on the shot.
31:47They're coming off that screen wide open.
31:49Just can't convert.
31:51I think, Greg, that's exactly what you want.
31:53The screen was solid.
31:54The execution just fell a little bit short on the shot.
31:57And so it's the Golden State Warriors.
32:00With a six-point lead at the end of the quarter.
32:02A good-size advantage.
32:03And they'll look to increase it.
32:05We'll take a quick break and then back to the action here.
32:15And a moment ago inside the huddle with head coach Steve Kerr.
32:20We get a couple stops.
32:21We get a couple run outs.
32:22We get into our flow.
32:24All right?
32:24Keep the ball moving.
32:26Keep the intensity.
32:28Steve Kerr asking his guys just, you know, keep up the pace.
32:31Play unselfishly.
32:32Basically be yourself.
32:33Stay, guys, stay in character.
32:35Yeah, I mean, he knows what this team is capable of.
32:38Just looking for a couple of plays to really kind of kickstart that engine.
32:43And give them that little sustainable groove.
32:48And thanks for joining us again as the fourth quarter of play is set to get low.
32:51It's been a close battle to this point.
32:53The sharpshooters Curry and Thompson are at the one and the two.
32:57Inside, we've got Draymond at the four.
32:59And Pachulia to his side.
33:01And it's Iguodala in at the three spot.
33:03That's the Warriors five.
33:05So it's the Cavaliers now.
33:07The Warriors making the shot.
33:11Rose dishes to Korver.
33:13He feeds it to Smith.
33:15Off target from outside.
33:18Warriors leading by eight.
33:23Thompson outside.
33:25Here's Pachulia.
33:27Good D by Thompson.
33:29The Cavaliers shooting at a decent 44% clip here.
33:33They need a good offensive possession.
33:35Yeah, they've gone a long time without a bucket.
33:42Thompson, a screen on Curry.
33:44Rose attacking and the rejection by Curry.
33:48Stepping up his game on the defensive end.
33:51Steph Curry reads the play and sends it back.
33:54Yeah, good job to take it right at the game.
33:59And Tristan Thompson in the middle.
34:00A player, Greg, who understands his role.
34:02He just plays hard and does the little things.
34:06Defense, rebounding, energy.
34:08When he's blocking shots and protecting the rim, he is one of the best bigs in our league.
34:14Two shots.
34:17Two shots.
34:27The first one falls.
34:29And LeBron outspoken last season about the Cavs, Doris, need for more playmakers.
34:34Well, Cav, at the time, there were only two players, Kyrie and LeBron, who were averaging at least two assists.
34:41To give you a point of comparison, the Warriors had seven players do that.
34:46So there was a ton of pressure on LeBron and Kyrie to make that offense hum.
34:52And a Kyrie's trade demand over the summer, a reflection of his trade relationship with LeBron.
34:59So James, with a forceful personality, it seems that may have graded on Irving.
35:07It's a big, high bounce and throws in.
35:10And the Warriors lead by eight.
35:12Well, you can tell Kevin Durant is percolating right now.
35:15He is exceptional at getting to his rhythm.
35:21Durant against LeBron.
35:26The Cavaliers, again, can't hit.
35:30And LeBron remains an outspoken leader on this Cavs team.
35:35Still interesting, though, to see whether he alters his style somewhat in light of the Kyrie situation.
35:41Perhaps leading more to the coaches and looking to blend in more with his teammates.
35:46Curry.
35:47The supreme confidence from Steph Curry to attempt that shot, let alone make it.
35:53Impossible to measure this guy's range.
35:56Timeout called the Cavaliers.
35:57We've seen Kevin Durant really having a great game.
36:01He's flat giving it to him right now.
36:03And this timeout is critical if they're going to stop his momentum.
36:06I think you've got to make some major defensive adjustments.
36:17On the sideline, let's catch up with Hall of Famer David Aldridge.
36:21Kevin, during the last break, I heard Tyronn Lue talking with his team.
36:25And he put the challenge in front of his players.
36:28He said, now's the time when we take control.
36:30This is our time, not theirs.
36:33Let's go out there and take it to him.
36:36Let's see if we got him going, guys.
36:38Now, here's Thompson.
36:43Here's Thomas.
36:46Changes up.
36:47And he could not get that one to go.
36:49A lot of contact.
36:50And he'll go to the line for two.
36:52Well, Tristan is starting to develop a sense for how to find contact and working his way to the line.
37:10Take a break.
37:12Take a break.
37:13Two shots.
37:24That free throw good from Thompson.
37:27And when you watch the Warriors, one thing that just jumps out is their passing.
37:31Everyone on this team, they allow the ball to dictate where it goes.
37:36Just unselfish to a fault.
37:46No good on the second free throw.
37:49And the Warriors last year averaging right around 30 assists a game as a team.
37:53Greg, just a huge number.
37:55And they led the league in that regard by a wide, wide margin.
37:58Yeah, the passing they do is what they purpose as well.
38:02And I really feel like they have the highest collective basketball IQ in the game.
38:07I mean, they get a lot of free points off backdoor cuts or leak outs.
38:12And that's all because of their ball movement and awareness as a group.
38:16What do you think is the most important trait for becoming a coach?
38:46a great guard, a great playmaker.
38:48Well, I think obviously you have to have a pretty good handle
38:50because generally you're going to absorb some pressure in the middle of a game.
38:53But I think the other part of that is, Kevin,
38:55you've got to be someone who enjoys watching someone else score
38:59as much as you enjoy scoring yourself.
39:01I think this makes you such a great analyst
39:03because you had to know as a guard everybody's role
39:06and everybody's movement on a certain play.
39:08You know, that's a great point.
39:10I've always said being a point guard is the perfect position
39:13to come at an analyst job from.
39:14You're 100% right.
39:16Now here's Crowder.
39:18Thomas with the ball.
39:20Picked up by Thompson.
39:22Free throw line jump shot.
39:24Again, Thomas missing.
39:26And he's just a tough defender.
39:28Good positioning to get after that shot.
39:30Right. Perfect contest in that instance, Greg.
39:33Making it really hard on the shooter to have any kind of space at all.
39:37For three, Durant.
39:38They get it back.
39:40Pachulia, good.
39:41Now this is where Pachulia has made his living, right?
39:44Right on the offensive board.
39:46So crafty.
39:50Thomas against Curry.
39:52Knocks it loose.
39:53And now Curry running the floor all by himself.
39:57And he finishes the break with a lay-in.
39:59And he can smell blood in the water.
40:02Excellent finish.
40:04I'll tell you, you've got to admire the energy.
40:06This guy really wants to put this one away.
40:09And that replay brought to us by Under Armour.
40:12Another Unleash Chaos moment.
40:14One of the more exciting plays in basketball.
40:18Here's Thomas, following the basket by Stephen Kirk.
40:24Outside Thomas.
40:26Looking to get back on track here.
40:28And oh boy, a lot of contact there.
40:30But he gets the call and will shoot too.
40:33Well, Isaiah Thomas can handle the basketball with great efficiency.
40:36He might have the league's best hesitation move.
40:40And that allows him to get to the rim at will, guys.
40:50Come on, gentlemen.
40:51Two shots.
40:53Blue shots.
41:04That free throw good from Isaiah Thomas.
41:06And doors, when Thomas gets into the lane,
41:09he's an amazing finisher for a guy his size.
41:11It really boggles the mind, Kevin, how many tricks are in that bag.
41:16This guy can finish with hooks, with floaters, with either hand from different angles.
41:21English off the glass.
41:23I think his strength is really deceptive.
41:25He can take a hit, finish the play.
41:27This guy is truly remarkable.
41:30And for Isaiah Thomas, he shouldn't have too much of an issue fitting in with the Cavs.
41:36When he played AAU with Kevin Love, he can distribute and score the same role as Irving had when he
41:43was at the Cavs.
41:45And that's a tough one.
41:46But on those illegal screen calls, the defender's never going to get the benefit of the doubt.
41:51And that's true.
41:53The officials used to be pretty lenient on those, but not anymore.
42:00Lays it in without an inch of room around him.
42:03Thomas got four points this quarter.
42:06And really what it comes down to is great players finding ways to make it work.
42:11IT has been getting it done for quite some time.
42:15Knows he moved into an incredible opportunity with the Cavs.
42:18Now here's Durant from deep green.
42:23And James pulls it down.
42:26He dishes it to Smith.
42:321.21 left in the fourth quarter.
42:35The screen from Thompson.
42:36The three from Thomas.
42:38It's good.
42:38It's just that time from Smith.
42:41Thomas got it back down to single digits for the Cavs.
42:44Warriors have gone five for nine from the field in the final quarter so far.
42:48The screen from Thompson.
42:54Curry on the wing.
42:55Covered by Smith.
42:58Curry kicks to Thompson.
43:02An easy two points on the layup.
43:05And the Warriors lead by 11.
43:07And at this point, just sort of running through the paces,
43:10as it appears, it'll be a nice win here for the Warriors.
43:14Not only did they shoot the ball better, but they had more assists.
43:17Yeah, I thought the passing in terms of finding the open man gave them the higher percentage shots.
43:23The ball movement was key for the win.
43:26And you know, when you look at the huge impact he had,
43:29just a monster game for Kevin Durant.
43:31Just an outpouring of points from him.
43:34Nobody could do much to keep him from dropping it in.
43:37And here's Smith following the three from Kevin Durant.
43:43Smith with it.
43:44Picked up by Thompson.
43:45Thomas, it's a wide open look.
43:47And another three for Cleveland.
43:49I mean, to me, Kevin, it's remarkable how Thomas reads the defense.
43:53He positions himself perfectly off the screen.
44:00Here's Curry.
44:13So we see the Warriors taking the game here.
44:16Some good moments throughout this one, but they have the clear advantage down the stretch.
44:21Yeah, I mean, I love the way they executed on both ends of the floor.
44:25Completely under control for the vast majority of the game.
44:28And whenever there was a misstep, they just didn't allow it to fester.
44:33And that's why they're going to walk away with the win.
44:36It's time now to go courtside as we send you over to David Aldridge from the sideline.
44:40David, take it away.
44:44Thanks very much.
44:45Kevin, how did you guys get this win tonight?
44:48Well, we had to get stops.
44:49You know, those guys, they got so many options.
44:51So many good players, man.
44:52We just had to rally around each other and get stops.
44:55Yeah, you guys played your best ball at the end and got the win.
44:58Congratulations.
44:58Back to you, Kevin.
45:00All right, David, thank you.
45:02And that'll wrap it up, folks.
45:03For Greg Anthony, Doris Burke, and David Aldridge,
45:07this is Kevin Harland saying thanks for watching.
45:10See you next time.
45:11See you next time.
