00:00What do you get when you mix severe weather and an ongoing partial government shutdown that's left
00:05TSA agents unpaid? Nothing good. It is an absolute mess at some of the nation's airports.
00:11As of Monday evening, more than 4,200 U.S. flights had been canceled and about 10,000 more had
00:18been
00:18delayed. Have you seen the social media videos of security lines? Insanity. Nearly 200 million
00:25Americans are under the threat of severe weather right now. Blizzard conditions in the Midwest,
00:29and severe storms in the East are creating ground stops at major hubs like Atlanta and Charlotte.
00:35Then add in the government shutdown. More than 300 airport security officers have already quit
00:40because, you know, they aren't getting paid. And that's caused those epically long lines at airports.
00:47And that's before the weather canceled thousands of flights. In Austin, Texas, for example,
00:52airport staff suggested that flyers show up two and a half hours early, even for domestic flights.
00:58And a lot of that time is going to be spent standing in line. And I'm sure that makes for
01:02really pleasant spring break travels.
