00:00More than 4,000 flights were canceled over the weekend as the FAA and airlines were forced to
00:05reduce the load on air traffic controllers. Well, at least those air traffic controllers that came
00:10to work. I told you these cancellations were coming after the controllers missed their second
00:15paychecks and many had to leave the towers to make ends meet by working for ride shares or
00:20some other branch of the gig economy. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy joined CNN State of the
00:25Union Sunday, and I hate to be the one to tell you, but he painted an even grimmer picture going
00:30forward. It's only going to get worse. I look to the two weeks before Thanksgiving, you're going to
00:36see air travel be reduced to a trickle. We have a number of people who want to get home for the
00:41holidays. They want to see their family. They want to celebrate this great American holiday.
00:45Listen, many of them are not going to be able to get on an airplane because there are not going to
00:48be that many flights that fly if this thing doesn't open back up. So we're back to waiting on Congress
00:53to figure this whole mess out. And speaking of missing Thanksgiving with family, Senate Majority
00:58Leader John Thune announced plans to keep the upper chamber in session until a deal is reached to
01:04reopen the government. Translation, lawmakers will be trapped in D.C. for the holiday. Perhaps the
01:10prospect of turkey and stuffing in the comfort of their own homes is enough of an incentive to get
01:15the Senate on the same page to end this shutdown.
