00:00Hi everyone, it's Grace from the Mummish Beacon. I'm stood outside the Robin Hood pub
00:05as they have recently reopened after closing for several months due to Storm Claudia.
00:11Let's go speak to one of the pub owners, Claire.
00:20I'm Claire Beard from the Robin Hood and today we are actually opening for the first day at 12 o
00:26'clock
00:26four drinks since the flood. So when the flood happened, it was 1.13 in the morning,
00:33I was just finishing off clearing up the bar area, just mopped the floors,
00:38and the water came down the street like a tsunami wave and within two minutes we were completely
00:44submerged in water to the point where before it had even come in full impact I was already up to
00:51my
00:52knee in water just to get to the stairs. Not just us but obviously the whole of this area,
00:59the whole of High Street, residents in numerous places, in seconds, very quickly, shockingly.
01:09It took five cars down the street, one of them impacted and hit the pub and it was just like
01:19some sort of nightmare. It piled into the pub with such force, filled up the cellar completely,
01:26in the end completely ripping out the carberry deck. It was in the highest point in the bar
01:32and it just obviously we were rescued and it was still at that point even though it calmed down
01:40all you could see was tables and chairs floating. It was just shocking. But currently in the bar area
01:45which was completely trashed, probably the highest point of the water, all the tables upside down,
01:53smashed to pieces, pews upside down and now we've completely refurmed it. It's been a lot of hard work
02:02but we've actually managed to do it with lots of support and help from Bethany and Josh and all
02:07the local residents come in. Some of our staffs, Stephanie, Liz, Kate have also been supporting us
02:14all the way through, through such a traumatic time for all of us and we're now on the back end
02:20of it
02:21and so happy to be opening today. Although our kitchen's a little bit behind so that will happen
02:27but not just quite yet.
