00:10Frozen Wilds is an expansion of Horizon Zero Dawn,
00:14it's also a brand new adventure for Aloy
00:16that opens up a new place for her to explore
00:20and gives her a new central mystery to dig into.
00:23We're going to be going to Dekat which is a part of the Banuk territory.
00:27The Banuk live in an area called Banur
00:55Even before we began work on the Frozen Wilds, we'd written dozens of pages about the Banukh.
01:01But this was really an opportunity for us to flush that out so much more, you know,
01:05to really focus on them, put them in the spotlight, try to imagine all of these details about their
01:12warrior and hunting culture, really dive deeper into their kind of mystical beliefs,
01:41Tu devi essere nomadico, tu devi essere on the move.
01:56I'm not here for glory.
01:59I'm here for the mountain.
02:01We work in great collaborazione con le diverse diszipline qui.
02:09They had really done a lot of the work in terms of how the Banouk kind of would fit into
02:16the environment.
02:16As Yellowstone was a big part of the inspiration for the Banouk, it dictated their attire in the sense that
02:21what they wore, the type of clothes.
02:24Even the colors were picked from Yellowstone.
02:27The prismatic pools.
02:28It's quite an outspoken bright color palette compared to the other tribes in Horizon.
02:33Our goal was really to try to think about what it would be like to be a tribe in the
02:37natural world, a very specific aspect of the natural world, and then extrapolate from there.
02:42Unlike Earth-like tribes, we have robots roaming around.
02:46And these also dictate the belief systems, but also their resources.
02:52They take parts from the machines and try to almost dress like the machines.
02:56The primary spiritual idea that the Banouk have revolves around this concept of the blue light.
03:02The blue light that you see in the machine, the eyes of the machines.
03:06The Banouk believe that the blue light kind of can only exist in the machines, that it in fact struggles
03:11to survive within the human heart.
03:13The human heart can't contain this kind of ultimate expression of harmony.
03:17It's an ideal that they're constantly striving towards.
03:20And it also harkens back to a time when the machines themselves were more peaceful.
03:24We have people here who take a very grounded approach.
03:27They really try to think about things in terms of function and what's the truth of the idea rather than
03:34just what would look cool.
03:35We have a very tight relationship with the writing team.
03:38An idea for a tribe can come from both art direction or concept artist or a designer or a writer.
03:43But usually then we go into the ideation process about really thinking how this tribe could have developed.
03:48And then we use short stories that the writing team writes.
03:51Or we use concept art paints that an artist has made and really develop it and look at it from
03:55every different angle.
03:57And it's really one of the most rewarding aspects of working on Horizon.
04:00Really come to these really lush and exotic tribes that we can develop.
