00:03A bracing sea breeze and a mug of grog that could knock out a horse. What could be better?
00:10Actually, how about a new update to the Sea of Thieves Technical Alpha?
00:14That's right, pirates. Ready your crews and hoist your shovels to unearth some priceless new features.
00:24Since we started the Sea of Thieves Technical Alpha,
00:27thousands upon thousands of players have been adventuring on the waves,
00:31scouring shipwrecks and cryptic clues,
00:34and rising above their rivals to lay claim to eye-popping loot.
00:38And voyagers in this fantastical world will find their stories influenced by the other players who share it with them.
00:44So these are some of your new tools for richer interaction with pirates whose lives converge with yours.
00:53There are plenty of reasons why a pirate might stay silent.
00:56Like a mouthful of stolen jewels, or an intense outbreak of gingivitis.
01:01Whatever the reasoning of those who avoid voice chat,
01:03we're now offering a backup option in the form of good old-fashioned text.
01:07You can choose from a chestful of contextual phrases to send to your crew.
01:12So whether you're stepping up to take the wheel,
01:14or brainstorming clues in clammy caves,
01:16you can make sure your crewmates know what's what.
01:20The Brick
01:21The crews that make legends are those that bond and fight together.
01:26But sometimes, you'll get a rogue who upsets the balance.
01:31Now, you might say that mutinous dogs are just part of the pirate life,
01:35but we believe in the pirate code.
01:37If you've got a serial troublemaker on your ship,
01:40you can now vote to banish them to the Brick,
01:42where they'll stay until the remaining crew members decide they've served their time.
01:49And if you do end up in the Brick yourself,
01:52you can still speak to your crew and try to justify your filthy misdeeds.
02:02There may be times in Sea of Thieves when your real-world rivals are proving too hard to shake off,
02:07or the odds that you're facing seem insurmountable.
02:10Should you feel that things have reached the point of no return,
02:13you and your crew can elect to sink your own ship,
02:16known as Scuttling.
02:18As your beloved vessel sinks tragically into the sea's cold embrace,
02:22it's fine, you'll get over the guilt eventually,
02:24you can think about summoning the mermaid to try and salvage it in a safer location
02:28and get back to your voyage.
02:33Helping to fulfill the piratical fantasies of those who would rather go alone
02:37is the option of heading into open waters on a smaller ship.
02:41You'll still have to manage similar features to the large ship,
02:44but as this one was designed for a reduced crew,
02:47sailing is simplified with a wheel that needs fewer turnways,
02:50a capstan that's easier to raise,
02:52and a sail that keeps the view ahead clear.
02:56With only two cannons on board,
02:58the small ship lacks the destructive force of the large ship,
03:01but makes up for it in agility.
03:04You'll be able to turn tighter circles at speed,
03:07letting you outmaneuver bulky rivals and give them a broadside where it hurts.
03:13If it doesn't work out,
03:14swing the prow around and run for it.
03:16Bravely, of course.
03:18These and other features are available to players now,
03:21with plenty more to come.
03:22The release notes are available in our forums,

03:38I reckon once I've explained
03:39that I didn't mean to chuck all the treasure in the sea,
03:42they'll let me out of here.
03:44Surely.
03:44I'll let you in on the sea,
