00:04So this is Two Point County. This is the video we showed at PC Gamer Weekend. It's been put together
00:12by Gary and we're going to talk about it. It's me and Ben here.
00:16Hello. So this is a tiny little corner of Two Point County. This is the very first hospital that you'll
00:24build up in your organisation. The little village of Hogsport.
00:29So, into the first level. Now we've kind of messed things up a bit here. This is one of the
00:36early levels of the game.
00:39But with more stuff unlocked than you usually have.
00:43A lot of stuff you're going to need to get further into the game, you're going to need to research
00:49and you may unlock things in different ways.
00:54Completing objectives and things like that.
00:56So Gary's just putting together the very basics of a hospital, reception, an assistant.
01:03The assistants have quite a few different jobs actually, not just receptionists.
01:07Yeah, there's a few different things that they can contribute to around the hospital.
01:12Yeah, some very, very cool things as well.
01:16And they'll have needs like other staff as well. They'll have to go on breaks, you'll need to keep them
01:21happy.
01:21Yeah. So the old game that we made many years ago, Theme Hostel.
01:29I mean, I think the receptionist was just a robot that just never had any needs and size.
01:35And we kind of worked really hard on trying to add a lot more personality into the staff.
01:40Should we talk about the room building assets on the screen?
01:43Yeah, you can see the room doesn't have to be rectangular. You can build it up out of individual cells
01:49and make it whatever shape you want. As long as it's all connected, it's fine.
01:54And then you can decorate it with all sorts of different items.
01:58You've got essential stuff you have to put in there, but there are a bunch of optional items you can
02:03put in there.
02:04And as the game goes on, there'll be more of those kind of things unlocked.
02:08Yeah. And by having a more impressive room, you'll be keeping the staff happier.
02:14Yeah.
02:15They're working there.
02:16See a snack machine being put down there. You've got to think about patient needs as well as staff needs.
02:23They can get hungry and thirsty.
02:25Visualisation here. You're kind of seeing where that was a kind of overlay that we've kind of...
02:30There's a number of different overlays where if you're trying to put in a radiator down,
02:35can I show you where the hot spots and the cold spots are and things like hygiene.
02:40We've got this kind of overlay system which we...
02:42Yeah, it's quite handy for just getting a scent that you can immediately spot if a character's bright red.
02:47Okay, there's a problem with that character.
02:50Yeah, trying to keep the player in the game.
02:52There's obviously a bunch of screens with stats and graphs,
02:56and for the people that want to sort of really drill down into the nitty-gritty,
03:00but then there's just trying to keep the player in this game world as much as possible.
03:06Hence the, you know, I guess the blueprinting is kind of the first part of that.
03:11You're kind of building and designing in the world.
03:14Yeah, yeah, yeah. We try to keep you in the world as much as possible.
03:18Oh, nice little bit of room movement there.
03:20Gary placed the room down and then shifted its position. You can rotate the rooms as well.
03:27Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:28Bit of a strange...
03:30It's a bit of an odd shape, but I think people have said that about Gary a few times.
03:35Not that he's an odd shape, but he makes odd shapes.
03:38Yes, yeah, that's what I meant.
03:40Look at his hands.
03:41Indeed.
03:44So this is a general diagnosis room.
03:50So that's going to be handy. If the GP can't figure out what's wrong with the patient,
03:54they'll be able to send them there for a bit more investigation.
03:57So the flow of the patient through the hospital is try and find out what's wrong with them,
04:04diagnose them, maybe have to research their illness, maybe research different diagnoses for
04:11them, and then hopefully ultimately treat them. Or if you can't do that, send them home.
04:16You can see a few icons above people here as well, and the ghost.
04:21Ghost?
04:22We didn't put that in.
04:24What's that?
04:25That's emergent behaviour right there.
04:27Someone's died and gone to ghost land.
04:31So this is an operation, an operating theatre, a doctor getting ready.
04:38You can see a nurse is still needed there, the icon above the room just telling you that...
04:41There's the nurse getting ready.
04:45There's the operation.
04:46Operation having gone pretty badly by the looks of it.
04:49I love the fact that the patient's always looking at the doctor.
04:53Oh yeah.
04:55I think they need an anaesthetist, don't they?
04:57Well, that was something that just sort of came out, wasn't it?
05:01When Tim put in the looking act.
05:04You're sitting lying on the operating table. That's a nice x-ray.
05:10You can talk about the traits, actually, Ben.
05:13Yeah, well, this doctor thinks of himself as being a bit of an entertainer,
05:16so he's going to have a little celebration after another successful x-ray.
05:23So, yeah, there's an MRI machine, and that's much later into the game.
05:29You know, you're going to need to unlock a few things, research a few things,
05:36before you've got those kind of diagnosis.
05:39Quite a powerful machine, but...
05:41Here's the diagnosis machine here.
05:45Fluid analysis.
05:46Fluid analysis.
05:47So we missed him.
05:48Just spat into the spittoon.
05:49Just spat into the spittoon.
05:52And now they're going to take a small blood sample.
05:55Yeah, the sounds on this are actually very good.
05:58Yeah.
05:58You see the symbol on the door indicating all of the different fluids that they might examine?
06:03I noticed that last one.
06:05It's nice.
06:07The little numbers above their heads there.
06:10In fact, a lot of this stuff is still placeholder.
06:13We're still going through with the UI and stuff,
06:16and they've got a little number ticking down, but it's not going to be as crass as that,
06:21although I quite like it like that.
06:23Just giving you a sense of new rooms you might need to build.
06:27And, yeah, how long these guys are going to hang around until they go sod this.
06:32So, I mean, the more of that you anticipate,
06:35the less of those icons you'd see in the world.
06:37They're just there to kind of prompt you to do things that you haven't already done.
06:40So this is the curse of the mummy, or what is your favorite new one you sent to us?
06:45Possibly premature mummification.
06:48Could be.
06:49Could be, you know.
06:50Yeah.
06:51If you think one of your relatives has died,
06:54and you go through the complex mummification process,
06:57only to realize that they're just having it now.
06:59They're all right, yeah.
07:02It's been unwrapped there.
07:05Oh, she hasn't been cured though.
07:07Now, this is a person with grey anatomy there,
07:10just going through the process of colourfication.
07:14Yes, I guess you could call it that.
07:16Chromatography.
07:17Chromotherapy.
07:18Chromotherapy.
07:18So, red, green, and blue dyes applied to them.
07:23And their clothes, of course.
07:25Somehow their clothes had grey anatomy as well,
07:27which is bizarre.
07:28Yeah, it's all...
07:29Yeah.
07:31That's cute.
07:31But she's still got grey hair though.
07:33But you just...
07:34She's just old.
07:35Sometimes you just can't get rid of that.
07:37I like that nurse with a cool beard.
07:39Yeah.
07:39Pretty cool.
07:41So, that's...
07:42I think that's it as we're zooming out.
07:44Nice little reception area.
07:47Beautiful.
07:49So, that's just an example of a small hospital
07:52you can build in the game.
07:53And that's it from us.
07:55Thanks very much for listening.
07:57What you doing?
07:58fucking
08:02You
08:02You
08:03You
