00:00Big 10 championship yesterday here. Michigan has the favorite, got knocked off by Purdue.
00:04That final score, 80-72. Here's head coach Matt Painter post-game after the big win.
00:09Obviously, playing four games in four days is something we haven't done before.
00:13We've been lying to do it before, but not getting to this point.
00:17So I just, I thought our guys had a great effort and concentration, because that's hard.
00:23It's hard to get, you know, back up and play another game and do it four consecutive days.
00:28So, you know, I thought we put ourselves in a good position.
00:33They scored, I think, like four to six points to finish the half while we were trying to juggle lineups
00:38with foul trouble.
00:40And really wanted to have an advantage there.
00:42And kind of how you finish the first half and how you start the second half is such an important
00:47piece of the game.
00:48So we did a good job of starting the second half, a little bit of a roll of the dice
00:52with Oscar having three fouls and starting right there.
00:56You know, he gets a quick foul there.
00:57It can change some things for our team.
01:00And so it's, you do that and he doesn't foul, you're a genius.
01:04You do that and he does foul, you're a dumbass.
01:07And so there's just nothing in between right there.
01:09Well, we'll have to get back and get our opponent and start preparing the scouting report.
01:14But we'll refer back to a couple lessons we learned from this game.
01:16I want to begin by congratulating Purdue.
01:18Four games in four days.
01:19And for their three seniors that have been together for a long time.
01:23It looked like they really found something deep inside.
01:26And when you start the year preseason, number one, you have two first-team All-Americans and it doesn't go
01:30as planned.
01:31You come in here as a seven seed with your back against the wall and play the way they did
01:35and perform the way they did is, you know, it's impressive.
01:39And especially, I thought, TKR, I thought his force around the rim.
01:45I thought Braden's ability to manage the game, 21 assists, two turnovers against constant pressure was very admirable.
01:54But overall, they earned it.
01:55We weren't, obviously, we weren't at our best.
01:57But obviously, Purdue has something to do with that.
02:00Four games, Joe, in four days.
02:02You're not supposed to be able to do that here.
02:04But Dusty is right.
02:05That's a talented team that might be finding themselves at the right time.
02:10They lost four of their last six in a regular season, Donnie, only to rip off four straight wins in
02:16the Big Ten tournament.
02:17Listen, we all knew Purdue had the talent, right?
02:22They certainly had the experience, right, with all those guys on the team that have played with each other for
02:27as long as they have.
02:28Listen, I don't trust Matt Painter in the tournament as far as you can throw him here.
02:32His teams usually figure out a way to fall flat.
02:35But they did not in the Big Ten tournament.
02:37So kudos to them.
02:39And Michigan kind of looked in a lot of ways like they knew they were getting a one seed.
02:44And, yeah, so what?
02:46We'll see you.
02:46You know, we'll see you in March.
02:48Madness is kind of what it felt like.
