00:01At about half past two yesterday afternoon,
00:04locals raised the alarm after noticing that a car and trailer
00:08that had launched the boat earlier that morning
00:10hadn't yet returned in what was some pretty rough
00:13and windy weather yesterday.
00:15That prompted a large search by police
00:19and the state emergency service,
00:20as well as local boaties getting out on the water
00:23to try and find that boat and the three men on board.
00:26But this morning it has been confirmed
00:28that the three men, a 64-year-old, a 67-year-old
00:31and a 74-year-old, all from New South Wales, have died
00:35and their bodies have been recovered by police
00:38who are still in the area, I guess,
00:41doing some investigating this morning
00:44in what is also, again, a windy and wet day.
00:48And, Sam, can you tell us a bit more
00:50about those conditions yesterday?
00:53Well, speaking to locals around Beachport this morning,
00:56they said that yesterday was quite a rough, windy day.
00:59There was no locals out on the water,
01:01which is why the sole car and boat trailer at the boat ramp,
01:06I guess, raised concern,
01:08because a lot of the locals knew
01:09that they weren't from Beachport
01:11and that the conditions were really rough out there.
01:14No-one else was out on the water that day.
01:17It's not the first time that this sort of incident
01:19has happened in Beachport.
01:20In January last year, a boat capsized
01:23and three people died as well at Point Connor,
01:27which is only a few kilometres outside of Beachport.
01:31So, for now, people who are out on the water,
01:33which isn't anyone yet today,
01:35police are urging them not to take any debris
01:39from the boat that may be in the water
01:41to note the position and let police know
01:43as part of their investigation.
01:44But certainly locals in Beachport here today
01:47quite saddened to hear about the deaths of the three men.
01:53You
