00:00All right, I'm going to boil this emu egg and then it's eventually going to be a smoked deviled egg,
00:05massive.
00:06And compared to a chicken egg, it's about a pound, pound and a half per each egg.
00:10So you start off with a rolling boil. Once that egg gets into the water, you want to do a
00:14steady simmer.
00:15This is going to be an hour. It's an hour long to boil one egg, which seems crazy,
00:21but that's how you get it done and get that center, everything to that hard boiled that it needs to
00:27be.
00:27So now that an hour's went by, you've got to transfer this egg and do an ice bath for at
00:35least 15 minutes
00:36because once you start peeling this thing, you want to make sure you're not going to damage the egg.
00:40So I just went with chat GPT and followed the simple instructions on how to boil and peel an emu
00:47egg.
00:48So now that we've been sitting in that ice bath for almost 20 minutes, it's time to bust this thing
00:54open.
00:54So the easiest way is to take a knife, take the heel of your knife right there and just start
01:01working your way around.
01:03This is probably where the comment section is going to be.
01:06Just open the thing, just crack it.
01:08Well, I spent 60 bucks on this egg and over an hour to boil it.
01:13I am going to take my time and make sure I get this egg out the way I want to
01:18get it out.
01:18And that's perfectly, hopefully.
01:20So as you can see here, I steadily worked my way around the egg and then I've started just breaking
01:26the shell apart.
01:27You can see the membrane on this thing is like huge.
01:30It's like peeling off leather.
01:32Once it's all peeled off, you can see we have the perfect egg.
01:38Didn't damage the egg whatsoever.
01:40I'm going to rinse it off.
01:41And then tomorrow, I'm going to split it in half and smoke it on the Traeger.
01:46Let's go.
