00:41It is the coach.

00:43You're tuned in to Madden 19 on EA Sports.

00:48On tap, we've got what should be a fairly intriguing matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the London Black Knights.

00:57I'll be back with you again with scores around the league at halftime.

01:01But kickoff right around the corner.

01:03Standing by to call the action, here are Brandon Godden and Charles Davis.

01:07Okay, coach.

01:09We are about 4,300.

01:32Let's go.

01:35They'll come out throwing here to start the drive.

01:39It's a short one here, complete to his tight end.

01:42Nice way to start the drive, a gain of 12 and a first down.

01:46And you know, he may not have the franchise tag, but I bet they're relieved to have that deal done

01:51keep him around.

01:52And he's a good guy, a valuable player to them, and they wanted to make sure they had him around.

01:57Good team chemistry.

01:58Always hard to find him.

01:59When you've got it, you don't want to let it get away.

02:01Throw left side, complete to Scott.

02:04And he'll be taken down, but not before he gets into enemy territory.

02:09And 15 yards there on the catch and run.

02:13Good throw, good catch, but I really like the route.

02:15The drag and being able to run away from defenders, hard to stick with them for that long.

02:20Yeah, better against man than zone, or...

02:22Better against man, because now you're running away from someone,

02:25and you're not running into a defensive player in another zone.

02:29Now here's a pass on first down that's knocked away and incomplete.

02:33It's always a battle.

02:34Who's going to win on first down, the offense or the defense?

02:36Let's face it, if you've got the ball, four yards or more on first down is what you're aiming for.

02:41They tried to throw for it there.

02:43Nice effort to knock down for the way and bring up second down.

02:46Yeah, he'll get it inside the 40 to the 39.

02:49They'll get nine there as that sets him up better for third down.

02:53One thing we do know, he's going to get his catches.

02:55So as they move forward defensively, got to continue to focus on not giving up the big play

03:01when he does catch the ball in the second down.

03:02Well, polluting the pressure right.

03:05Powers through.

03:07Losing two yards that time, and now it's fourth down.

03:24Out comes this offensive unit as they get set to take over here.

03:28Last time out, they had that long 50-plus yard field goal that they missed.

03:32And I'm sure on their sideline, they're thinking to themselves,

03:35okay, do we still want to try one if we're in that position again?

03:38And I would dare say that the answer would be yes.

03:40They're going to have a lot of confidence in their kicker.

03:42But just to be on the safe side, I'm sure they told their offensive guys,

03:46can we get a little bit closer this time?

03:47A little bit closer.

03:48Yeah, well, you know, I'd rather get in the end zone first and foremost.

03:50But if all else fails, less of a field goal attempt for him.

03:54The drive starting play, a good one.

03:56Give him 19.

03:58I think the last two plays really illustrate how difficult it is to game plan against this guy

04:02because you know he can throw the football, but how about his use of legs as well?

04:06What we call those broken plays, you can't account for them.

04:09Yeah, those plays, those two that you just mentioned, a microcosm, really, of how he can hurt you.

04:13And he'll be taken down, but not before he works it past the 50.

04:17So a nifty bit of scrambling there.

04:1912 yards, first down.

04:22Containing him is becoming a big problem.

04:24We've already seen this once earlier on this drive.

04:26Yeah, and so now two times this has happened, do you adjust something?

04:30Yeah, I think you do.

04:31I think that's what game back to rush lanes.

04:32Try not to either get too wide or too narrow.

04:35Make sure someone is there waiting for him to take off.

04:38Throwing on first down, but this one winds up to be incomplete.

04:42When I watched that play, I thought about what my coaches have told me in the past.

04:46The biggest teaching point, get your head around.

04:48Locate the football so you can make a play on it while it's in the air.

04:52That's exactly what he did there.

04:53That was nice.

04:54And this time he's going backwards.

04:57So after the no gain on the last attempt, here they get him behind the line.

05:02While we know that the identity of this offense is to throw the ball,

05:05they've got to run it every so often,

05:07and for no other reason than to tamp down the pass rush.

05:10They can't let them just tee off and get to their quarterback.

05:14Now back to throw.

05:17And a double coverage, and it's intercepted.

05:20Picked off at the 33.

05:31And now back out comes the offense.

05:34And there are parts of their last drive they'd like to emulate.

05:37And, of course, they'd like to forget the inning, the interception.

05:39But they did put together, Charles, a nice sustained drive to get him down the field.

05:42Yeah, and unfortunately for them, the only thing that matters is part two.

05:46Because once they're through the interception and finish off the drive,

05:50that does them no good to go back and say, well, you know what, a good one going.

05:54Finish things off.

05:55That's the only way you can get it done.

05:56The last drive, remember, similar situation.

05:59He forced the ball into coverage through the pick.

06:01He learned better there.

06:02Yeah, similar to a golfer that's confronted with a shot that you just can't make.

06:06Sometimes you have to take your medicine, as they say, right?

06:08Just pull it down, take off, and go.

06:11Don't make something worse than what it was.

06:13It's a loss of four there, bringing up second down.

06:17Doubling this guy has to be a priority before moving up to the next level

06:20because the big fella, he just ate that one alive, just stuffed it.

06:24In fact, before the game, he was talking to us, and he's like,

06:27hey, these fans make me look fat, and we said, nah, man, you're just a whole lot of guys.

06:31He is a wreck.

06:33And all the way in for the touchdown.

06:36A great effort there.

06:38His third touchdown now on the year.

06:55They'll come out throwing here on first down.

06:58And an alley to run.

07:01And they're going to get this beyond the 40 before he's taken down.

07:05No one there to help out downfield, but no problem scrambling for 22 and a first.

07:11Now, those are the ones that hurt defensively.

07:13You do everything right.

07:15Excellent pressure, good coverage downfield,

07:17and then he slips out the back door and turns it into a nice game.

07:23Now on first down, he'll drop to throw it.

07:26Oh, he's got a man wide open, complete.

07:29Complete.

07:46A little too much extracurricular there.

07:49When you have a game with a lot of contact, tensions are going to run pretty high.

07:53You're going to be emotional, but you have to harness it somehow.

07:56And he didn't on that play.

07:58Hut!

07:58He'll look to throw.

08:01And nearly picked off.

08:04Surprising to see a defender of his caliber let it get away.

08:07But it does get away at its second down.

08:11And that's what he's got to be happy to have back.

08:13There wasn't a hole open in the zone.

08:15You'd have to think on early downs like that first down there.

08:18Need to be a little bit more careful.

08:19Yeah, fortunately for him, got a couple more downs to play with.

08:23And it's caught.

08:24Touchdown.

08:25As his guys are in for six.

08:28And his guys are able to strike for six.

08:32Brandon, my man, just one sentence for that one.

08:35Clinic.

08:35And that's what they've done.

08:37They lead the league in points per game this season.

08:39But it's been quick strikeability as we saw on that drive.

08:42I think they're actually intimidating defenses because they're better.

09:12They'll try and start this drive in the air.

09:15Forced out to his left.

09:17He finds an opening past the 40.

09:20And he takes it all the way up to the 47.

09:23No one there to help out downfield.

09:25But no problem scrambling for 22 and a first.

09:28Partner, it's often the man coverage is easier for a quarterback to run against.

09:33You get your receivers going downfield.

09:35Those guys are staying with them.

09:36And oftentimes, they have their back to the quarterback,

09:39which opens up a lot of space and room.

09:41And they don't even know that he's taking off with it.

09:43What a big-time pickup on that play.

09:46Back to throw.

09:48And the Jags get to him as down he goes.

09:52Yannick Ngakwe in there to bring him down for a loss of seven.

09:57So this has been a lot like a tennis match, hasn't it?

09:59Back and forth.

10:01Both of these offenses have in their way so far.

10:03So maybe the question isn't who's going to score the most points in this game.

10:07Maybe it's who's going to get some stops.

10:08Yeah, absolutely.

10:09And that sack, finally a first step in the right direction for a stop.

10:25They'll look to throw.

10:42When they drew that up, I don't think they envisioned it ending in a house call.

10:50That was really special by him.

10:52But let's face it, in today's NFL, those tight ends are often former wide receivers

10:57or maybe even sometimes bigger.

11:14They'll look to throw here on first down.

11:17Pressure from his right and he goes down hard, flat on his back.

11:21I don't know about you, but if I'm the offensive line coach right now, I'm having an absolute fit.

11:26This team that they're going against has three sacks, yet they rank dead last in the league in sacks coming

11:32into this game.

11:33Maybe overlooked them a little bit?

11:35Could be.

11:35I don't know if it's the scheme.

11:37I don't know if they've just gotten fortunate right on the right.

11:40I have no real great answer for it.

11:42But we're seeing something you don't often see.

11:44A very nice pickup of 33 yards.

11:48There will always be a place for methodically marching the ball downfield.

11:52But when you can pick it up in big chunks and strike like that, have explosive plays,

11:58that's often the difference in winning and losing.

12:00Those types of plays that can knock a defense off balance, that'll drive a team towards a victory.

12:06Rashawn Evans out of Alabama had the tackle defensively.

12:09Rashawn Evans out of Alabama had the catch on second down, but it didn't help at all.

12:30And now they're looking at third down here.

12:33So two minutes to go in a wild first half.

12:42They'll look to throw for it on third and one.

12:45The big foul.

12:47And he will find his big tight end over the middle.

12:50And he gets into the end zone for the touchdown.

13:25But to me, this leads to the question, do you admire the way he puts his body out there all

13:29or do you think he should protect himself a little bit more?

13:32Well, he's been on the ground several times with all those sacks that he's taken.

13:36I don't know.

13:36I kind of admire him not sliding down there.

13:39I'm with you on that one.

13:41The meter definitely leans towards admiration.

13:43Credit him with a one-yard gain there to make it second and nine.

13:47They tried a quick hitter inside, but that one was swallowed up because what they were hoping,

13:51this big defensive lineman will take the bait and move laterally and open up a crease that they can run

13:57through.

13:58Didn't happen on that play.

14:01Powerful running.

14:02Buying time to his left.

14:05And the defense has it covered.

14:07It's intercepted.

14:08Picked off inside the five.

14:10And not much on the return there.

14:12He'll take it only up to the nine-yard line.

14:23So out now comes the offense back onto the field.

14:26They've got to right the shift.

14:28They had a great first half, but the lead has really gone down.

14:31Now, you know, you always talk about the adjustment to the adjustment.

14:34They've got to adjust right here.

14:36And I think a lot of it is just mentally.

14:39Get back to doing what you were doing well in the beginning of the game,

14:42but a lot of that is playing with that emotion and that sense of pride and fire

14:47that sometimes goes away a little bit when you build up the lead.

14:50If you think you've got it going and you also think at any moment

14:54I can go ahead and go back to the way it was before,

14:56you and I both know it's not that easy once you get off the gas a little.

15:00And they don't want to see this lead diminish anymore.

15:03And he's brought down after a very nice game.

15:07Big yardage there on the scramble.

15:08It gets him a first down.

15:10Now, that was a whole lot of open space out in front of him, wasn't it?

15:13I'm telling you, Brandon, when things are going right, they are going right.

15:17And everything has been going their way for the most part.

15:20And I saw that lane start to develop.

15:22Boom.

15:23He took advantage of it.

15:24And he'll take it into the end zone for a touchdown.

15:28A great play there with his second.

15:44They'll look to throw now on first down.

15:49Going right side here, and that's complete.

15:52And they work this well upfield across the 45.

15:55But a good pick up there, 26 yards.

15:59Back in the first quarter, you said it, they need to avoid the big play.

16:03But he just got a big one right there.

16:05You can't relax, you know.

16:07We talked about it in the first quarter.

16:08But as the game progresses, still opportunity.

16:11Jaguar pressure and a Jaguar sack.

16:14Jack, Miles Jack, in there to get him his second sack now in the afternoon.

16:20Brandon, more often than not, you'd say they've had his number.

16:23And we can count them up so far.

16:25One, two, three, four sacks given up.

16:28But guess what?

16:29He's still been able to make some plays.

16:30And right now, they have a lead.

16:32And right side, Henry's got it.

16:34And he's going to get this down to the 35-yard line.

16:37And that goes for a gain of 31.

16:41Right part, I'm not sure how this drive's going to end.

16:43But how about the way they flip field position there?

16:45A nice attacking play.

16:47They picked up a heck of a chunky yardage.

16:50They'll look to throw.

16:51Being chased out left.

16:55And they will not get the connection there.

16:57It's incomplete.

16:59This defense could use some more of these types of plays.

17:01How about him reading it, driving on the football.

17:04And he's right there for the pass breakup.

17:06Here's second and ten now from the 35.

17:10On play action, they'll throw.

17:14Try to lay one up deep.

17:17And this is going to be intercepted.

17:20Picked off by Jalen Ramsey.

17:27Now this offensive unit ready to see what they can do here.

17:31And three interceptions in this game.

17:34And I would have to think.

17:35I wasn't a quarterback.

17:37But number four is kind of.

17:38Oh, you're like, oh, man, I can't throw four.

17:40No, what's interesting is what do the coaches decide to do now?

17:44Having thrown three, do you alter your offensive strategy?

17:47Do you take the ball out of his hands and maybe turn to the running game?

17:49Or do you have that supreme confidence that he's going to turn things around?

17:53We'll see what they do.

17:56Now they try the right side here.

17:58And for one of the few times here today, this run's not going to go anywhere.

18:03No gain on that one as it brings up a third and ten.

18:08I know the scouting report on him is that he doesn't possess the eye discipline to be an elite linebacker.

18:13And what that means is his ability to read, react, and make a play.

18:17But on that one, he looked like one of those guys.

18:20Throw left side complete.

18:22That's Scott.

18:23And down to the 11.

18:25It's a big play there on third down.

18:2944 yards.

18:31Coaches really don't care from what position they get this.

18:35But run after the catch ability, rack ability,

18:38is often the difference between winning and losing and changing field position.

18:47And finding room to work, he's down to the two-yard line.

18:54And it'll be second down.

20:10But you and I both know, well-conditioned.

20:13And he did tell us that he thrives on being at his peak late in ballgames.

20:17And it's caught.

20:19In for the score.

20:21And this offense continues.

20:39And they'll try the ground game here with the running back.

20:42And he'll get this one up to the 26.

20:45Just a yard on the pick up there.

20:47And it'll bring up a second and nine.

20:50Well, Brandon Pace comes into play now because they've got the advantage.

20:54They've got the football.

20:55But they've got to be very careful about what speed they're going to play.

20:58You know, my music teacher back in New Paltz, this is my theme of Bagley,

21:02used to say, don't go prestissimo when you really want to go largo.

21:06And what she meant by that is don't go too fast when you really want to go

21:09at a nice, slow, deliberate pace.

21:11I am speechless.

21:13I am without speech.

21:14Now a deep ball there on second down, but it'll wind up incomplete.

21:18After an incomplete pass on second down, that'll leave them trying to convert

21:22on third and nine.

21:25They're going to look to throw.

21:27Throwing left side, it's complete.

21:29And they nearly get this all the way to midfield.

21:32Mark him down at the 49.

21:34And they're able to convert on third with a solid gain of 23.

21:39Still throwing the football here, even with the big lead.

21:42Yeah, I know you and I came up in a different era when we think about

21:44sportsmanship and all that.

21:46All the people think about fantasy points and getting their numbers.

21:49That's all they care about right now.

21:50It's a seven-yard carry to set them up with a second and three.

21:54Well, partner, I know this type of running back.

21:56I mean, this size, this intensity usually gets better as the game goes on.

22:01I can just tell you from experience, the first few quarters,

22:04oh, you're eager.

22:05You come running up there, I'm going to tackle this guy.

22:07By the fourth quarter, you're coming up and thinking about it.

22:10And D-line wearing down fourth quarter.

22:13Yeah, that's not a guy they want to see consistently.

22:15And he'll get it down on the play to the 37.

22:18They just keep marching right along, first down on a pickup of eight there.

22:23Well, if you do read man coverage, Brandon,

22:25the drag route's a pretty good one to run against it

22:27because you're running away from people on it.

22:34They go play action here on first down.

22:37He couldn't quite hold it.

22:39Got hit.

22:40Ball pops out incomplete.

22:43The beauty of being able to play a zone defense

22:46when you can sit back and see the ball coming out of the quarterback's hands,

22:50guess what?

22:51Creates a lot of confusion,

22:53kind of a muddle in the middle of the field

22:55where you can go make a play on the football.

22:57He'll try again with the arm here on second down.

23:01Forced out to his left.

23:03And this time he's got the hookup.

23:05It's complete.

23:07And they're able to get this one past the 30 to the 25-yard line.

23:11He has a first down,

23:12and that catch will also put him over 100 yards receiving now on the afternoon.

23:17On any given pass play,

23:18you never know exactly where your exit points are going to be.

23:21On this play, he was flushed to his left,

23:24still on the run,

23:25able to accurately throw the football for a nice first down.

23:39That hold coming from the middle of the line, the center.

23:41And it's difficult for him

23:43because sometimes you've got people right over you,

23:45and as soon as you snap it,

23:46trying to get your hands up and block them,

23:47you can be a little bit late getting it done.

23:49Oh, let's go!

23:51They'll look to throw again.

23:53Dancing to his left.

23:56And it pops free.

23:58The collision there jarred the ball loose

24:00and brings up second down.

24:03My high school coach, John Ford, used to say all the time,

24:06if you're in a bad situation, laddie,

24:08don't compound it with a bad decision as well.

24:11And I think that's what we just saw there.

24:13Harassed in the pocket.

24:14Ain't frozen to double coverage anyway.

24:16And his pass is intercepted for the fourth time today.

24:22And a big turnover there

24:24as his guys will get the football back.

24:33And here now the offense heading back out there.

24:36They have the dream scenario you hope for coming into the game.

24:39Just one kneel here, and this game should be over.

24:42It's always the final play of preparation each week.

24:45The practicing of the kneel-down formation, the victory formation.

24:49We've got a game in hand, and that's all they're going to want to do now.

24:53They'll put someone back deep just in case something goes haywire.

24:55But all in all, take the snap, kneel down, and shake hands.

25:02Again, the 25, second and 10.

25:06That one looks like he'll throw here.

25:08Sliding out of the pocket.

25:23A big offensive explosion help leading them to victory.

25:27And the defensive guys, they're just saying, hey, put those points.
