00:00My two biggest Houston sports pet peeves, I believe, are, one, the excuses given to how come the stadiums or
00:12arenas are not full on time, especially at NRG.
00:15Hold on, Joe!
00:16That's right up there at the top.
00:19And then my other one is the amount of times that they play games with the roof closed.
00:26Bob Nightingale just took a photo of the daikin with the roof open as Team USA is starting to practice.
00:36Beautiful.
00:37Oh, my God.
00:38Oh, when that roof is open and you can see the buildings and stuff downtown, Tyler, and you can see
00:45it all like, oh, it lights up.
00:48Houston looks beautiful.
00:50The whole area looks beautiful.
00:51It's a beautiful city.
00:53I love it.
00:53I mean, it is, it is it.
00:56The sunlight, all, I mean, this is, I've turned on.
00:59Got that skyline tattooed on my skin.
01:02It is beautiful.
01:03Amazing.
01:04How many times we'll get it a year?
01:06Maybe once.
01:08I don't, and I don't think you're exaggerating.
01:10No, no, I'm not.
01:12Out of the 81 ball games, I think, I think one, and I, listen, I understand Texas heat, it gets
01:18super hot.
01:19There's some 80 degree days that thing could be open.
01:23Like nights.
01:24There's some 80 that's going into 70s in the night that that thing could be open.
01:29September, October, that sucker, it is beautiful at night.
01:33Yeah.
01:33When it's lit up and, oh, I just, I just wish they did that more.
01:37It is.
01:38You and a, you and a lot of folks.
01:40I think, see, I think, I think a lot of people feel that way.
01:43First city to ever have drop tops for the football stadium and the ballpark.
01:47And now we don't use it.
01:50I mean, it is beautiful.
01:52God, I mean, that was, that photo there, it just, it literally just pissed me off.
01:57I think I've been one time when the roof was open at Dyke and back when it was Minute Maid,
02:02obviously.
02:02I think I've been to one game.
02:03I think it might have been Enron.
02:05May have been.
02:06No, I think it was Minute Maid.
02:07I think I've been to one game.
02:08And I'm never getting, good God, UCF is just getting throttled right now by Arizona.
02:13God, it is 33 to eight points in 12 plus minutes for us to report a murder, by the way,
02:18they're
02:19going to make the tournament.
02:20But anyway, and I've still not gotten used to indoor noise, indoor sounds from baseball,
02:28like the, the ambiance, like I, that still is getting, it always sounds like a fan is
02:35on or something, a tunnel or something that always, like it's always there here that AC
02:40pumping, that AC is pumping, it's always a humming thing for me to get, to get used
02:46to.
02:46I'm sorry, I had to get off my, I had to get off of it.
02:49I just, God, just open that puppy up.
02:51Like, what would be the temperature rule?
02:53Like, if you were setting the temperature, if you said, all right, we look at the temperature,
02:57if it is this and above roof closed, if it's this and below roof open, where would you
03:03set it?
03:0380?
03:04Well, I mean, I wouldn't be afraid to open it as long as it was healthy.
03:09You'd have it at 90.
03:10Yeah, I mean, I, I mean, you're, you're, you're in Houston, Texas.
03:13Hell no.
03:14You're in Houston, Texas.
03:15Where you have a roof.
03:16I mean, if it is, if it is nice weather out and it just so happens to be 90 degrees,
03:21I'm
03:21cool with it.
03:22Ain't nobody going to hurt, ain't nobody going to faint 90 degrees.
03:24Hell no.
03:25Now you get up in some of them, some of them just where it's dangerous.
03:28Yeah, we got to shut that thing, turn the AC on, but I would, I wouldn't let a little
03:31bit of, a little bit of warm temp scare me away from it.
03:33I said about 80, 80, 80.
03:35I was going to say 85.
03:3785.
03:38I could ride 85.
03:39Y'all like Tyler's dog.
03:40We could hit that 85 and below roof open.
03:44Like the outside temperature, 85 and below the roof open?
03:47Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:49AC is a wonderful invention.
03:50Clint, we're not, Clint, we're not going to have a roof.
03:52We're not going to have a roof and it's 90 degrees and we're going to, and we're going
03:55to have that.
03:5590 ain't no big deal.
03:57I'm not saying it's not, but I mean, if you had the option, like, oh man, y'all complaining
04:04about that thing not being open.
04:06Now you want to set a 10, 10 degree window when you can't open.
04:08Yeah.
04:09I mean, I think, like I said, the hot days, like, yeah, it gets humid as hell.
04:13I get that.
04:13I get that.
04:14Well, if it's cold enough, you need to wear a jacket.
04:16Yeah, you might wear a jacket, but you can't, you know, and you can wear a jacket, but you
04:19can't sweat a little bit.
04:20Obviously, if it's, if it's super cold too, like we're dealing in the fifties, we close
04:24that one too.
04:25Like people say, but that's not going to happen.
04:26We're not planning.
04:27Right.
04:28People, like people say, you can put on more layers.
04:30I can't get butt naked at Dyke and Park, Clint.
04:33No, you can sweat a little bit though.
04:35You can sweat a whole lot.
04:36Yeah.
04:36Yeah.
04:36I'm thankful for the AC.
04:38Yeah.
04:38Do you drink them beers faster?
04:39You want to push somebody to drink them $20 beers, man.
04:42Open that thing.
04:43Open that roof up when it's 90 out.
04:45The postseason, and they've been in the postseason forever.
04:48That sucker, that should be open.
04:51The temp's good enough that that should be open.
04:53You think?
04:53I'll see you in October.
04:54Unless it's 90.
04:55All right.
04:56Lance McCullers.
04:57We heard from Lance and it didn't sound confident, to be honest with you, the first time we heard
05:03from Lance, but his latest outing, he goes three innings, gave up three hits, gave up
05:08two runs, gave up a home run, but came back on and had four strikeouts to one walk, which
05:12is a big deal.
05:13Lance has not had great control the last couple of years that he's given this a go, but he
05:18hit almost 90, he hit 95, and that is, that's a velocity we haven't really been seeing him
05:26jump up to, especially now this early in camp.
05:30Here is Lance speaking after his latest three-inning outing.
05:34Now, the VLO's been good.
05:35I'm happy with the VLO.
05:36I'm happy it held, you know?
05:37So I threw, obviously, the one inning, and then I threw two in the backfields, and then
05:41so today was the first time, like, in-game multiples, and I was happy with the way I felt.
05:45Really happy with the way I felt.
05:46Felt sharp.
05:46Didn't feel like, at first batter or two, like I needed to really get it going like I have
05:50in the past, so I was bouncing back well, attacking, leading off those innings, so,
05:55and then when I did go up to Homer, you know, came back two strikeouts, and then, so, overall,
06:00it was a big, big win for me today.
06:04He sounds better.
06:06He sounds better.
06:07Look at that.
06:08He sounds a little more level-headed.
06:09He sounds better.
06:10Listen, I'm not going to lie to you.
06:10I like that more than I got two daughters and a wife at home, and I'd just soon be there
06:14to be in spring training.
06:15I like that.
06:16I like it a lot better than that, yeah.
06:17Clint, I'm, like, I'll come to the table.
06:20All right.
06:21Lance, I have a blind spot for Lance.
06:24I don't know if there's an athlete I root for more in Houston than Lance, because I
06:28know how bad he wants this, and I know how much he loves playing for the Astros, and
06:34he feels sick, as all of you feel, with all the games he's missed and all the times he's
06:39missed, so I really root for him, and I am very hopeful for him.
06:43I know he'll have opportunities, Clint.
06:46There will be opportunities there for him to help this team.
06:50It is just if he's going to be good enough to accept those opportunities.
06:56Like, listen, we've watched this team, and we've watched Major League Baseball in 2026.
07:00They're not just rolling through whoever the five starters are, and they're going to roll
07:05through and start every fifth day for the full season.
07:09He held six guys.
07:10What, we've watched them the last couple of years, Clint used 11, 12, 13 starters, it
07:14feels like.
07:15I mean, old Bo Henley had to come up.
07:17I mean, they've run through starters.
07:19So, it's going to be an opportunity, but will he be good enough to take advantage of those
07:24opportunities?
07:25Will he win one of the spots in the start five?
07:27I don't know.
07:28This, Lance, does make you think, all right, maybe he can help this team.
07:33Well, the one thing, again, I'm on record.
07:35I just fell completely out of love with that interview, that audio that surfaced of him.
07:40It's very fair.
07:41Like, that was not good.
07:42This, Lance, that you can tell there's a shift in approach, you can tell there's a
07:47shift in intensity, although I absolutely love the intensity that he brought, sense of
07:52urgency that he brought in the past.
07:53I can understand where that may have led to some of his flaws, both mentally and physically,
07:57and he's at a point in his career where he needs to change a bit.
08:00Seems like he's changed a bit.
08:01Seems like he's addressed some things mentally and is approaching the game a little differently,
08:04and I can get down with it.
08:06I can get down with it.
08:07I'm glad, Lance.
08:08Lance, I do think that you did a good job, Ron.
08:10I think Lance earned his way back onto the show.
08:13That is big of you, because you, I mean, you were, you were, I don't care.
08:17Yeah, I was at an I don't care spot, and I'm not real sure I'm out of that spot, to
08:20be
08:21honest with you, but I think he was huge.
08:23I think Lance has done, I think he's, he's, he's piqued my interest with the different
08:29approach that I just heard right there.
08:32Again, not the stuff I heard before, but what I just heard right there, I can, with Lance,
08:35knowing Lance's history, I can get down with that right there and follow it and want to
08:39hear from it.
08:40I had, I had a hard time wanting to hear what we heard last time.
08:43I don't know that, I think that the top three are, are pretty set, but Burroughs,
08:48Erragetti, him, like that little, that, those next guys, I mean, I, I think the four and
08:56five spots.
08:56I think Burroughs and OMI's is the two, three.
09:00Maybe, maybe.
09:01I think, but I think Javier is going to be in the rotation.
09:04Yeah, so there's one spot, I feel like there's one spot out there.
09:08Like, I think he's got a chance to get in there.
09:11And even if he doesn't get in there to start the year again, somebody is going to have to
09:16miss something.
09:16Yeah.
09:17I mean, and that's not trying to wish something on it or blame it on this new staff, but somebody
09:22is just going to miss time because that's, I mean, it's what happens in baseball.
09:24He's going to be in baseball, right?
09:24He's going to be in baseball.
09:24Yeah.
09:24And, you know, it's going to be a baseball game.
