00:06so in the beginning empathy is the core of the show and i ask you is empathy a superpower nowadays
00:14oh absolutely yeah oh my god i think it can be i think we need a lot more of it
00:23yes we do
00:23um but i think this show is is a real example of how empathy from kind of a
00:32a more institutional source is really important and how having empathy from very high up places
00:41really trickles down because you are seeing a lot of people um who need health care and can't
00:51get it or health care workers who want to do their job but can't fully do that because
00:55of i would say a lack of empathy coming from very high up all sorts of places all sorts of
01:03places
01:03yeah i think yeah the whole show is about empathy and it's obviously a big thing in an er room
01:11it's
01:12life and death you need empathy in that you know uh but there is also the sometimes empathy can be
01:19directed in the wrong places sometimes you can have too much as a as a health care worker
01:24yeah sometimes extend your empathy too far exactly and give too much of yourself away
01:30but that's what the whole show is about it's yeah a real kind of exploration and study of empathy
01:39when did you realize that the pit is something special
01:45i think we knew when we were filming that it was very good that it was it was a special
01:51it was
01:52definitely a special set to be on it's it's filmed very differently than than a lot of things anything
01:58that i've ever done and yeah i think we we could tell like oh this this is different but you
02:05still don't
02:06know if it's going to be received well you still don't know if it's going to blow up but you
02:10do know
02:11like oh this is good and i'm surrounded by good people but i think the the realizing the the broader
02:17sense of it came a little later it did come after yeah i think it came a few months after
02:22i was back
02:22in the uk when it was all kicking off but yeah i could see it very clearly having like just
02:27like an
02:28uptick out of nowhere but it seemed like it was from people talking about it yeah very word of mouth
02:35yeah especially medical professionals i think i think they sort of really led the charge
02:39and kind of talked to each other like you have to see this um this show now whenever we go
02:46to
02:46the doctors it's a different experience yeah my bad a doctor is always under pressure how do you
02:55handle pressure in your work in our work or is that yeah yeah yeah in our work you just find
03:04a dark
03:05room and you just you just cry sleep whatever you need to do yeah i think there's a i think
03:13everyone
03:13has kind of their own way of dealing with this type of pressure i think um it's it's a funny
03:21pressure
03:21that we we chose we chose to do this with our lives um but but to kind of be on
03:29display and perceived
03:31and also especially with this show telling important stories and being like i need to do this justice i
03:39need to really respect this and do and do a really um a good job of of representing these people
03:47um it can be a lot of pressure but i also think it's it really helps me to be like
03:53around the right
03:54people yes yeah for sure we we've got a great group of people that work on this show the crew
04:00is so
04:00amazing and i think we feel very taken care of and like we're we're such a team there's no i
04:07in in
04:08this environment it's so family oriented yeah and and also like leaning on my friends outside i i also
04:18like because it's so we're so contained sometimes it's like i need to go outside i need to like be
04:25with family be with friends yeah however you need to do it you do it yeah after the beat do
04:33you see
04:33doctors differently sure i haven't seen any uh no so long i know to get a checkup i do oh
04:44my god
04:44touch wood well i've been to the doctor very recently yeah um no i think uh
04:51like you always i think i've always had respect for health care workers obviously as we all do but
04:59doing this and getting to see kind of the ins and outs of it a little more and and again
05:05and
05:06we're still just doing a tv show so we've only scraped the surface but getting to see what we've
05:12seen it's i'm so thankful because i i i see it in such a different way it's really
05:21the amount of of heart and soul that these doctors put into their work every day whether they want to
05:29or not because i'm because of course when it's day after day there are times when you want to turn
05:34off and you want to just not feel but talking to all the doctors that we have working on the
05:40show and
05:40all the health care professionals that work on the show it's so apparent how invested they are and how
05:48they never really take a break from the toll of of their job and it's just it's really amazing and
05:55i
05:56thank you thank you thank you for your time thank you bye thank you so much ciao
06:02you
