00:05And I think that's a piece of her that's appealing to people
00:29What fascinates you the most in choosing to adapt the world of the Wheel of Time?
00:34Maybe the peculiar relationship between men and women that speaks a lot about today's society
00:41Yeah, I think, you know, when I was looking at the Wheel of Time to adapt
00:46One of the things that really drew me to it
00:48And one of the things I was excited about in it is the way that it tackles gender
00:52And that it's not as simplistic or surface level even as
00:57It's just a flop where all the women are in power and the men are disempowered
01:02It actually has much more complicated things to say about gender
01:05And it has a lot to say about balance
01:07And I thought that was a message that's kind of missing a lot in today's society
01:12And I like the complex, layered, and nuanced approach
01:18That we're able to have around gender and power in the show
01:22Because you see so many different women in power
01:26And so many different ways that they wield that power
01:29It makes it not just a simplistic, straightforward message
01:32And I'm always more creatively excited about that
01:36Yeah, totally agree
01:38Natasha, Céline is ambiguous and mysterious
01:42She's both an enemy and an ally to Rand
01:45They share intimacy and then they fight together
01:48Now there's the triangle with Egwene
01:52How did you find the magic to portray a very dark and complicated character?
01:57She reminds us that evil is scary but also fascinating
02:03Well, I think Lanphir is, part of her skill is how chameleon-like she can be
02:13And this is just a little acting, an acting thing she's doing really
02:23It's a bit of play and seeing how far she can take that
02:28Saying that, I think showing her true colours was quite a relief for her
02:34And for me as an actor actually
02:36I was very, very excited to bring her true colours out
02:44And, yeah, I mean with Egwene in this season
02:47There's a lot of, as you may have already seen
02:53She's really rattling her
02:56And you don't know how far she's going to take that
03:00And, yeah, she's doing that with quite a few people in this season
03:06And she's, you know, I think one thing that makes her likable
03:10Even though she's so bad
03:12Is that she's rash and impulsive
03:15And leads with maybe what you think you might want to do
03:20And she'll just go right ahead and do it
03:22And do it at level 100
03:24And I think, you know, sometimes we wish we were like Lanphir
03:30And I think that's a piece of her that's appealing to people
03:34Yeah, yeah, that's true
03:35In this first season, there's an explosive beginning
03:39Where all the eyes set high could be Black Asia and Dark Friends
03:43How did you bring to life that exciting and astonishing sequence?
03:48It was a huge undertaking for us
03:50To sort of start the season with such a massive action sequence
03:56Usually you build up to it over months
03:59And then you deliver it at the end
04:00When you've all got your feet wet and everything
04:03But we just came straight out the gate with it
04:05And our director, Kieran Donnelly
04:09Really, like, just took it by the reins right from the beginning
04:12And was like, this is how we do it
04:14This is how we shoot it
04:15This is how we build it
04:16And, you know, at the center of it
04:18We really just wanted to showcase these amazing actresses
04:22Who very often are not given giant action set pieces to do
04:26You know, we have Sophie Okonedo
04:29Like setting Kate Fleetwood on fire
04:32And, you know, how awesome is that?
04:35We never get to do that kind of thing
04:37And a lot of these actresses never got to do scenes like that
04:41And so it was a real pleasure for all of us
04:44To be able to put that sequence up
04:46And to bring it to life
