00:00Happy Christmas to you too!
00:07Io amo il Natale! Non amo lavorare alla vigilia di Natale!
00:11Ci vediamo a pranzo!
00:12Hi! Hi, how you doing?
00:14Fine! First of all, Happy Christmas!
00:16Happy Christmas to you too!
00:18And, speaking about Christmas,
00:21I lost one mageddon on the first day thanks to this movie
00:25because there's Last Christmas in it!
00:28Oh, I see, yeah!
00:29So, I want to know, what is your favourite Christmas song?
00:34I have a number. The one that I really love is
00:37Two Thousand Miles by The Pretenders.
00:40It's a bit of a sad song, do you know that song?
00:42Two Thousand Miles, I love that one.
00:46But that's because deep down I kind of like things
00:49that are a bit sad and melancholic.
00:52But in terms of happy, upbeat ones,
00:55like Otis Redding's version of The White Christmas,
00:58which isn't upbeat, but I do love that.
01:01Let's say... let's say... let's say... oh, I don't know.
01:06They'll do. They're fine. They'll do.
01:08Yeah. And speaking about Christmas, again, this movie could be a Christmas movie,
01:13but it's also an action movie, like Die Hard.
01:17Yeah.
01:17So, are you challenging John McClane to be the best Christmas hero?
01:23No, absolutely not.
01:26No, I... that is such an iconic movie character,
01:31played by one of the coolest, greatest movie stars.
01:37And I think our movie is very much... exists in homage to that film.
01:46And I think it's intended to be a celebration of a kind of bygone era of action movies
01:53and, of course, that specific Christmas action film.
01:57But this is in no way me facing off with the mighty Bruce Willis. No way.
02:03Of course.
02:04And Ethan says that dreams have an expiration date, that he's a really sad line.
02:10Yeah.
02:11Do you agree with him?
02:12No. Absolutely not. No.
02:14I think Ethan's at a bad place at the start of the movie
02:16and he's... we all know what it feels like to be in a place of low mood
02:20or to feel like you're not good enough.
02:23And when we're in that place,
02:25we say things that don't necessarily represent the truth of who we are, I don't think.
02:29I don't think that's the truth of who Ethan is,
02:31but I think he's fallen into the trap of cynicism.
02:34And part of the movie is him kind of finding himself again
02:38and finding his ability to be of use and to be fulfilled.
02:43But no, I don't think dreams do have an expiration date at all.
02:47I think that is the statement of somebody who is a bit scared.
02:52And the thing about being scared is you can decide to get brave.
02:55And I think that's what the movie is about for Ethan.
02:57SP, about being brave, his girlfriend says, suggests him to take a risk.
03:04Do you believe that risk taking is important in life, in a career or not?
03:10Yeah, of course. Absolutely.
03:12I think life is about taking educated, well-informed risks.
03:18You know, in my life as a creative person,
03:21every decision you take, every project is a risk.
03:23There's no guarantees. There's no sense of certainty.
03:25And I do think there's some truth to the idea that the bigger the creative risk,
03:29the bigger the reward.
03:32But yeah, that's not to say that, you know, you should be doing things that are dangerous.
03:36But I think certainly taking risks and being brave with yourself is very important.
03:41And do you look at airports in a different way now?
03:45Yeah, of course. Yeah, going through TSA, going through security rather.
03:51Yeah, that's a very surreal feeling having played the role.
03:54And I've been doing that for two years since we've shot the movie.
03:57So it's going to be really interesting to see how people doing that job respond to the film.
04:04And I really, really hope they like it.
04:06I think the movie is one that intends to celebrate people in that role
04:09because I think people who, you know, TSAs have a rough time,
04:13especially at some of these busier times of the year.
04:15So hopefully they feel like the movie represents them well.
04:19Thank you so much. Thank you. Great job.
04:21Thank you. Thanks very much. Bye.
04:47Thank you.
