00:04On Sunday, India created history by winning the men's T20 World Cup for a record third time
00:09and also being the first side to finally do so on home soil.
00:13In an ICC interview, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav said it was a wonderful feeling.
00:18Obviously winning in back-to-back, this was definitely a dream post-2024 T20 World Cup
00:25when I started leading this side. The dream was to win this trophy back home.
00:31We knew that this tournament is going to happen in India, so our preparations were spot-on.
00:36We understood how the conditions will be, what we needed to do, how we wanted to play.
00:41I think that was very important and the way we played throughout the tournament, very proud of everyone.
00:45The man who sobriquet is Skye, did not sleep for hours after the men in blue retained the title.
00:50He said it was a momentous occasion for all involved with the younger players being in their glee.
00:56When we came back to the hotel, without taking shower, people were already in the team room
01:01at the place where the celebrations were on.
01:04And more than 75% of the boys were up till 7am in the morning.
01:09So it's a great thing to see. I think you don't win World Cups every day.
01:14There were a lot of guys who were just 24-25, winning the World Cup at the age of 24
01:18-25.
01:18It's a special thing for them. So they wanted to have a taste of that victory, what it actually means.
01:24Because they saw 2024, they saw Champions Trophy 2025.
01:28So they wanted to be a part of this celebration and they were there till the morning and having a
01:32good time.
01:33India made a mammoth 255-5 before dismissing New Zealand for 159 to win the final in Ahmedabad by 96
01:41runs.
01:42So at what stage did Yadav actually feel India had won the match?
01:45If you ask me, the game is not won. When the last ball is bowled, that's how you see this
01:51game.
01:51But then as soon as we scored 250-256, we always knew that we had a little bit of upper
01:56hand with our bowling unit.
01:57Because I take a lot of pride with my bowling department.
02:02I know on a given day they can defend any total for me.
02:05So as soon as it was 250-plus, I started thinking that yes, there will be a little bit of
02:10edge going forward.
02:11But I didn't want that energy to spread in the team.
02:15Have that little bit of complacency because it was a high-stake game.
02:21But yeah, as soon as halfway in the second innings, we knew that we've got this.
02:27Yadav is not resting on his laurels and wants India to win gold at the Olympics as well as aim
02:33for a third consecutive T20 World Cup trophy in 2028.
02:36Window now on your team's export.
