00:41I, over quarantine, I binged all of the seasons.
00:44I was addicted to it.

00:55And yeah, when I heard about getting this role, it was like a dream come true to be
01:00part of something that, you know, already so many people love and adore.
01:07Yeah, I was excited to wear all the clothes, and I love New York.
01:11I've already lived in New York for about three years now.
01:13So it was awesome to get to stay and get to see new parts of the city that I love.
01:18So yeah, it's been awesome.
01:20In your opinion, what's changed since the first Gossip Girl?
01:25You, in this new show, you speak about cancel culture.
01:29We have so many diverse cast.
01:33What's changed, in your opinion?
01:35I think it definitely has changed for the better.
01:37It's definitely improved.
01:38It's definitely more an elevated version of the original.
01:41Like you said, yeah, it's a very diverse cast, which is amazing to see.
01:46It can always be more diverse, which I think we see with a lot of shows.
01:50But it definitely feels good to be part of, you know, the beginning of change, especially
01:54in the industry, because I feel like that's kind of where it's most important.
01:59I think representation is most valuable in the media, because it's what we all consume
02:04and see all the time.
02:07And I would say the other big change is social media.
02:10In the first episode, we start to see that social media is a necessary change for the show.
02:17You know, we're making a show about high schoolers, and you can't really do that without Instagram
02:22and Twitter.
02:24So yeah, I think it was a necessary change.
02:26And I think they've been doing it in a very authentic, real way.
02:30Times change, people change.
02:32But teenage girls are still really mean in high school.
02:36Why, in your opinion?
02:38Yeah, I mean, I had mean girls in my high school, too.
02:41I feel like we all have those girls that we remember from high school that were the mean
02:46the mean click.
02:48I don't know.
02:49I think for the show, it's fun to watch.
02:55It's really fun to watch mean girls be mean and, you know, create sabotage and drama.
03:03And that's kind of my role.
03:05She's kind of the precipice for all of the drama that ensues.
03:11But yeah, you know, it's fun to play the mean girl, because I wouldn't describe myself
03:16as a mean girl.
03:17But it's fun to sink my teeth into something that's so different from my personality.
03:21The show speaks also about power.
03:24And now power isn't just in clothes or in money, but in followers.
03:30On Instagram, you are saying social media.
03:33So do you believe it's dangerous thinking in terms of followers and likes today, especially
03:40for young people?
03:41A hundred percent.
03:42I've fallen into that.
03:44And I have to, you know, it's kind of like a constant battle.
03:48You have those moments where you get a lot of followers and you're like, oh, my gosh,
03:51this is so great.
03:52This means something.
03:54This means a lot.
03:55But then you kind of have to step back and realize that it doesn't really mean anything
03:59at all.
04:01I think it's not tangible.
04:03It's not really real.
04:05The people are real.
04:07The followers are real.
04:08But, you know, your social persona is different than who you are as a real person.
04:13And I think it's important to keep that separated, because once the lines start to blur, you do
04:18start to fall victim to like, if I had more followers, people will treat me differently.
04:23And they might.
04:25But it's important to to not think about it and to not have it be important to you.
