Intervista a Michelle Dockery e al cast di Downton Abbey: Una nuova era, secondo film ispirato alla serie tv di Julian Fellowes.

00:00It feels great.
00:31I think she was always meant to be the captain of the ship, even though she resisted it
00:38so much in those early years.
00:41It feels good and it suits her.
00:43How important is having in life a sparing partner such as Lady Grantham?
00:49It's always good to play with somebody who plays rather better than yourself because it
00:52ups your game and over the years we've had a lot of scenes together and the relationship
01:04has changed and we've become fonder of each other but we still disagree fundamentally
01:10about a lot of things which causes great friction but also great humour because they both go
01:20their own way.
01:21They're as strong as each other and they don't want to back down either of them and to lose
01:26face to one another is difficult but they come to some sort of understanding and I think they
01:33also become extremely fond and become by the end to rely on one another an awful lot.
01:39So I've enjoyed the experience very much.
01:42I also do have other interactions with them.
01:48So I mean it's just, it's a treat and a privilege to work with her and have, you know, most
01:55of
01:56us have worked with her for nearly 12 years now and she's amazing and she is a great sparring
02:01partner in the scenes and you really up your game.
02:03I certainly upped my game when I was Maggie, she's just so, she's so brilliant to work with
02:08and she's this legend, you know, and I still pinch myself that I get to work with her.
02:14But I think, I think the sparring is great with the different characters that Julian is sort
02:19of, who does that with like, you know, Maggie and Violet and Isabel, you know, there's always
02:25a bit of a sparring there and, you know, he writes those scenes really well, Edith and
02:29Mary, you know, and we really just all love working together.
02:35We love sparring together.
02:37I think it's good, you need someone to challenge you and also to be prepared to be challenged
02:42and to have someone who has strong beliefs but is also prepared to admit defeat but maybe
02:50not quite as classily as Violet always does.
02:53Oh yeah, they're amazing together, aren't they? There's a lot of them, those partnerships
02:59on Downton, I mean yours was with O'Brien initially, so sorry.
03:04I haven't replaced her.
03:06Because you couldn't, she was irreplaceable.
03:08You cannot, you cannot.
03:09But Julian writes those partnerships so well, I think I have one with Leslie and my husband
03:14of course.
03:14No, I think you and Leslie are also a double axe, that's fine.
03:17Yeah, so sorry, I tried to be nice.
03:18But Bates and Anna, obviously.
03:21And we're going to name every partnership in the show now.
03:23Have you got any?
03:24Yeah, how long we got?
03:25I'm going to go throwback, Lady Edith and Strallon.
03:31Oh!
03:32Nice.
03:33Series one of the two.
03:34No, stop it.
03:34Have you done something rather jolly with your hair?
03:37Best line ever.
03:38Sorry, sorry, back to where I was.
03:40In the first film, there's a few ad-libs from Penelope in there all down the driveway.
03:46I don't know if you remember it, but Maggie says something and walks off and then Penelope
03:50pretty much snarled at her.
03:52Yeah, I loved that.
03:53And that was just not scripted and things like that you just get because they're just brilliant.
03:58But then you see Penelope in, what's it called, Ricky Gervais' thing?
04:02Afterlife.
04:03Afterlife.
04:03And you just see it again, don't you?
04:06Yeah.
04:06The scenes at the cemetery.
04:07She's just unbelievable.
04:08She just raises the bar, don't she?
04:11Whoever she's with.
04:13Yeah.
04:13She's set aside.
04:14It's got nothing to do with Downton Abbey.
04:15That's enough.
04:16Yeah.
04:17Oh yeah, great.
04:18Very important, isn't it?
04:19Yeah.
04:20We all need a good sparring partner, don't we, in terms of whether it's your family, your
04:27chosen family, your partner, your children.
04:29You know, I think, yeah, I mean, Lady Grantham is definitely one of the best.
04:36She definitely has the best quips and one-liners.
04:41Yeah.
04:42Keeps you on your toes.
04:43Keeps you laughing.
04:44I'd prefer, I was just thinking, Guy's partner is also his butler.
04:55So I think it's probably better to have that rather than a sparring partner.
05:01A butler partner.
05:02Someone who's sort of obedient and, and servile.
05:06Yeah, it sounds amazing.
05:08Much better, wouldn't it?
05:10Sparring, you know.
05:17Sembra che il pubblico ormai voglia solo film parlanti.
05:21Avrei giurato che il più grande pregio dei film è che non si sentono.
05:24Meglio ancora sarebbe se nemmeno si vedessero.
05:26No, no, no.
