00:46So, I guess, structurally, we can sort of create villains in terms of story structure,
00:53but I think when it comes down to the humanity of people, I don't think anyone is really a victim.
00:58I think everyone is human and has reasons why they do what they do,
01:03and some of those could be because of trauma, because of their desire for power, for whatever reason.
01:09But I think when our work as actors is not to sort of be in judgment of people and their
01:15motivations,
01:16but to understand from a human perspective and have empathy.
01:19So I don't actually believe in villains.
01:23I would agree. I think it's our job not to.
01:25And really in this series, I think what's so exciting about it is that you don't, we don't know.
01:32And I watched it with Scandal happen a lot where I'd have conversations with people and they would say,
01:38I love Olivia Pope. I'm an Olivia Pope ride or die.
01:41And then they'd be like, Olivia Pope murdered people and, you know, she stole an election.
01:48You know, so, you know, it's just like, wait, what?
01:53So I think that that happens again in this story very much where humans are very complicated.
02:00And one day they might be a villain and one day they might be the hero.
02:04Anna, I think that succeeded because many people underestimated her.
02:11Do you believe that sometimes being underestimated is an asset?
02:15Yeah. I always think about that just made me think about that, that fun, fun movie called The Devil's Advocate
02:23with Al Pacino, Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron.
02:28And Al Pacino says to Keanu Reeves character, he's going to win because they're not going to see you coming.
02:35They're not going to see you coming. And I love that.
02:38And so I think there is something wonderful about sort of being underestimated and them not seeing you coming because
02:45then you can really get them.
02:47I'm not sure if anyone's ever really fully seen me coming.
02:54And here I am.
02:55And that's definitely the case for Anna Delvey, because she's not the wisest in the room.
03:01She's not the most experienced. She's not the hottest. She's not the thinnest.
03:04She's not the funniest. There's really nothing.
03:07What's so cool about her is that there's really nothing remarkable.
03:12And yet she does remarkable things.
03:15So, yeah, I think in her case, being underestimated drove her crazy and she wanted to be taken extremely seriously.
03:24But I don't think anyone was prepared that they were dealing with a con artist.
03:30Anna Delvey is a job, you idiot, and you can go...
03:33I'm a cold, yes, I'm a cold piece looking for a Mr. Freeze to get froze like me.
