00:00Loaned to Géron, he seems to be gradually rising from the ashes, but what becomes of Thomas Lemar?
00:04So yes, of course, we all remember Thomas Lemar in 2016-2017 with AS Monaco who won the
00:09Ligue 1 and will be in the Champions League semi-finals.
00:11And we inevitably think of a great season or two at Atletico Madrid.
00:14As a reminder, Thomas Lemar was trained at Stade Mayer de Caen in 2010.
00:17Very quickly, despite his size, he will impress with his technical quality.
00:20With Stade Mayer de Caen, he will first begin his professional career in Ligue 2, then later in Ligue 1.
00:241.
00:24He scored his first direct free kick against FC Nantes, but it was especially against AS Monaco that
00:28Thomas Lemar is going to explode.
00:30Recruited in 2015, he will take a step forward and become a face of AS Monaco during the
00:342016-2017 season,
00:35who will have an exceptional season by becoming French champions and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.
00:39Thomas Lemar stands out for his passing ability, his quality on the shot, his technical precision, his
00:44his ability to find others, his ability to get others involved, and even his versatility.
00:48This period propelled him into the French national team; he scored a brace against the Netherlands and won the championship.
00:52of the world, obviously in 2018.
00:54And it was during that same summer that he took the big leap, since in 2018, for
00:57For the sum of 72 million euros, he will join Atletico Madrid.
01:00His debut was promising; he scored a brace against Rita Fe, but Diego Simon kept him at bay.
01:05a position that isn't really his, and it's not going to work out too well.
01:07In Madrid, in 7 years, he will alternate between good periods and less good periods.
01:11In a new role at the end of 2020, he will begin to excel with Atletico Madrid and will be very
01:14important for the club during the 2020-2021 season, where Atletico will be Spanish champions.
01:19Unfortunately, over time, we will never see the Thomas Lemar of Ice Monaco again.
01:22The competition won't help him, nor will his inconsistency, and the final straw was...
01:26he's going to start getting hurt and that's going to bury him a little bit.
01:28In 2023, he will break his Achilles' heel, we will not see him play for almost a year.
01:33He will indeed return a year later during a Copa match, but will immediately go back out afterwards on
01:36injury.
01:37His 2024-2025 season is also almost a complete washout, and so this summer he was loaned to Girona.
01:42The beginnings are complicated, there are calf injuries, there are some minor injuries to
01:45right to left,
01:46But since 2026, Thomas Lemar seems to be rising a little from the ashes.
01:49He's getting a little playing time again, he's regaining some of his feel for the game, some of his qualities, he's going to score a goal.
01:54His goal against FC Sevilla will be his first goal in over 1000 days.
01:57and he will even score a decisive goal against FC Barcelona.
02:00So obviously, it's not at all a repeat of the Ice Monaco crash, of course, I think that
02:04That Thomas Lemar, we'll never see him again.
02:05But hey, he's only 30, now we're hoping for one thing for him, which is that his body...
02:09Leave him alone.
