00:05Police in the Highlands have been working on disrupting county lines, a form of criminal
00:10exploitation where gangs expand drug networks from major cities into smaller towns and rural
00:16communities. Police estimate there can be between eight and ten county lines linked to Inverness,
00:21although not all operate at the same time. We were given rare behind-the-scenes access
00:27as officers carried out 15 raids in Inverness in a single day, targeting the networks behind these
00:33operations. Our day began at Police Scotland's North Headquarters on Old Perth Road, where officers
00:41split into teams and were briefed on their targets. Soon after, they headed out across the city.
00:48We joined one team in the back of a police van, with officers wearing helmets and stab vests,
00:54carrying equipment designed to force the entry if needed. With no idea where we were heading,
01:00the atmosphere inside was tense.
01:23Moments later, we arrived in the Nezcastle area. Officers from multiple vehicles converged on the
01:29property within seconds.
02:07Chief Inspector Craig Sill says the work also aims to protect vulnerable people. Police say these
02:14operations are not only about arrests, but identifying victims of exploitation and ensuring they get help.
