Discover how to indent in Google Sheets.

Indenting text in a spreadsheet, particularly in Google Sheets, is a straightforward process. To begin with, you can easily indent the text by adjusting the indentation settings. To do this, select the cell or range of cells containing the text you want to indent. Next, go to the toolbar and locate the "Increase Indent" or "Decrease Indent" icons, represented by right and left arrows, respectively. If you're specifically looking to align and indent the text in Google Sheets, you can utilize the alignment options available. For the second line indentation in Google Sheets, you can use the "Wrap Text" feature combined with the "Indent" options. This can be achieved by selecting the cell, clicking on the "Format" menu, choosing "Text Wrapping," and then opting for "Wrap." Following this, you can utilize the increase indent button to indent the second line of text effectively. In the context of Google Tables, the process is similar, as Google Tables share the same underlying principles as Google Sheets. Ensure that you select the appropriate cells, navigate to the "Format" menu, and use the available indentation and text wrapping options to achieve the desired formatting.

00:00With a simple indentation, you can exponentially help improve the visual organization and hierarchical
00:04readability of your spreadsheet yet. No one does it. Well, I do not know the reason why.
00:09It only requires seven clicks and here's how you do it. The first click will be to select the cell
00:13that you want to apply indentation to. Then you go format, number, custom number format. And after
00:19that, you're going to apply the number of spaces or indentation. I'm going to indent it with three
00:24spaces. So one, two, three. And you're going to put a string or text placeholder which is going
00:29to be ampersand like this. If it's a number, you're going to say pound like this. Since
00:34it's a string text for me, I'm going to say ampersand and hit apply. And you also can apply
00:38to multiple cells. Select the very first cell, hold the shift button and select the last cell
00:44on your spreadsheet and then follow the same step. Format, number, custom number format.
00:49And then let's say this one I want to give six indentation space. One, two, three, four,
00:53five, six and ampersand to indicate string and hit apply.
00:59Seven.
