Intervista al cast di Morto Tra Una Settimana (o ti ridiamo i soldi)
Trascrizione
00:05Scattiamo da un killer che hai assunto tu.
00:07Ti chiedo scusa.
00:30No, I've done it before. I've died with you before.
00:33I know, yeah.
00:34You died with me before.
00:37I played Richard III, King Richard III.
00:40And, of course, he goes, that was with you.
00:43I think you're very sympathetic.
00:45It makes people warm to you and then...
00:47And then you just take them away.
00:49I like to draw people in and then, you know, just give them nothing.
00:52That's it.
00:53Yeah, that's it.
00:54One more.
00:55In the movie, there's a quote, a tweet,
00:57Therefore I am, nobody cares.
01:00I think that this phrase really describes well our society.
01:04Do you agree?
01:05I definitely agree.
01:06I definitely wrote that line, you know, out of a frustration, I guess.
01:12Yeah, we live in funny times where, you know,
01:17we're very self-analysing.
01:20We want to tell everyone our problems the whole time.
01:23Or not even our problems, but just our lives.
01:26We just, you know, broadcast everything about our lives.
01:29And I think that for lots of people,
01:32that is a way by which they are giving meaning to their lives.
01:37And, you know, I think that that's a big theme in the film.
01:41It's about what actually gives meaning to your lives.
01:44And, you know, God, it would make me feel,
01:46I think that's a very sort of sad thought
01:49to think that people were too busy, you know,
01:52looking at their phones or their computers
01:55to actually connect with real people.
01:59Because that's what the film is really, I guess, about.
02:02It's about, you know,
02:04the characters that find a purpose in their lives
02:07through the connections that they make
02:09and the relationship that they have with people.
02:11So, yeah.
02:14So, for you, do you use a social network?
02:17I do, but I don't...
02:19It's something I don't use very often
02:22or very well, actually,
02:24because I love having connection with human beings,
02:28looking them in the eye and having conversations.
02:30So, I think it shows you...
02:31It shows to another person that you're invested in them.
02:34And there's something which is given freely there,
02:37which you can't buy, money can't buy,
02:38and it doesn't matter how many followers
02:40or whatever you've got
02:41or how many times somebody's seen something
02:43that's happened in your day.
02:44It doesn't buy the beauty of literally sitting
02:47next to another human being and engaging.
02:50And I think the one thing,
02:52then rounding back into what we've just been talking about,
02:55the one thing that we have to be very careful of
02:56is that we are creating problems mentally in our world now
03:01because of social media,
03:03because we're creating more and more separation.
03:06So, it's a tricky balance
03:09because it's opened up connections for lots of people,
03:13but it's also damaged connections for many, many people.
03:18And, you know,
03:19you can't relieve any mental illness you may have
03:22or mental damage you have
03:23with a robot
03:24or through, you know,
03:27posting pictures of yourself
03:28trying to look like another photograph that you've seen.
03:31I think that's an addiction
03:34which is only going to result in
03:35you feeling even less happier.
03:38Yeah, I mean, I would have to agree with all that.
03:41I think it's very hard,
03:42especially for the much younger generation.
03:45There's a kind of constant comparison
03:47and feeling like your life is never glamorous or fun enough,
03:51but the world is awkward and unglamorous most of the time.
03:54And to just be shown images that are seemingly perfect
03:58and, you know,
03:59and kind of constantly altered
04:00is a strange way to then view your own reality
04:04and feel like why am I not having this?
04:07And why is...
04:08I think it can be used...
04:09I use Instagram and I use it,
04:11I would say, mainly
04:13because I'm interested in poetry
04:15and I write poetry
04:16and I use it to put up photos
04:18that I'm inspired by
04:20and to put up poems
04:21and to see it not as something
04:23that's a reflection of my personal life
04:24because I don't really want to share my personal life
04:26with however many people.
04:28But I'm interested in seeing it like an art project
04:30and seeing it almost like a mood board or as a collage
04:34as opposed to, you know,
04:36here's, I don't know,
04:37here's my chia pudding in the morning
04:38and here's my beautiful beach view on holiday.
04:42I kind of think that's quite a...
04:44Yeah, it can be quite an unhealthy way
04:46to promote the world and your life.
04:49So, yeah.
04:50I don't know if it ever happened to you,
04:52but helping someone who has chosen to kill himself
04:57is really difficult,
05:00especially if they're depressed.
05:02How, in your opinion,
05:03we can help a friend that has that problem?
05:09I think that by listening to people,
05:11I think that it goes to what, you know,
05:14Naya was saying
05:14about the personal connections with people.
05:17You know, I don't know,
05:21we're making a film which is a fictional film
05:24and William is a specific character,
05:26so I'm not going to try to generalise
05:28and solve everyone's problems,
05:30but, you know, for William's character,
05:32and I think that what I found a lot
05:34in the research for the film
05:35was that a lot of people, you know,
05:38had, you know, felt this depression
05:41when they felt very isolated.
05:45So I think that by easing that sense of isolation,
05:49and that doesn't necessarily mean to be
05:51that you are on your own.
05:53You can be, you know,
05:54surrounded by people and feel on your own,
05:56but it's listening to people
05:57and trying to understand their point of view.
06:01You know, we consulted with the charity,
06:04the Samaritans,
06:05and, you know,
06:05their whole thing is about listening
06:09and, you know, and just listening,
06:11not trying to offer advice,
06:12but just listening.
06:14And I think that, you know,
06:15what they, their experience,
06:18and they've obviously been far more experienced
06:20in this than I am,
06:21is that, you know,
06:23suicide is always seen as being,
06:26or is always a permanent solution
06:28to a temporary problem.
06:29If you can get beyond that low,
06:33which feels maybe insurmountable at that time,
06:36if you can get beyond that,
06:37then actually the world is brighter.
06:39Yeah, and I think the one thing
06:41to talk about just quickly
06:42is that if you're that low,
06:45you feel very isolated
06:46and you feel like it's wrong,
06:48like you've done some wrong,
06:49and you've not done anything wrong,
06:51and I think talking about that
06:52and bringing that, you know,
06:54up in conversation where,
06:57even if you have done something wrong,
06:59it's still not wrong.
07:00You know, we commend,
07:01you commend with others,
07:02and so having a network around you
07:04is very important.
07:06Okay.
07:07Thank you so much.
07:07Great.
07:08Thank you.
07:08Thank you.
07:09Thank you.
07:09Thank you.
07:10Thank you.
07:10Thank you.
07:10Thank you.
07:10Thank you.
07:10Thank you.
07:10Thank you.
07:10Thank you.
07:10Grazie a tutti
