Authorities in Bundaberg say it'll take several days to determine the extent of flood damage in the town, but it's feared hundreds of properties have been inundated.

00:01Flood water is receding across the Bundaberg region leaving behind this thick smelling mud in streets and in people's homes.
00:11Residents are of course keen to start cleaning up today as much as they can.
00:16Many of them have been through floods previously and they know exactly what's ahead and how they should be proceeding.
00:23It hasn't been a very nice couple of days but it's all good we survived and you know we've got
00:28everything still so it could have been worse.
00:31Hopefully we'll have it all cleaned up within the next few days.
00:34We have got quite a troop of people coming over to help us and what not so many hands may
00:38quite work.
00:39The flood peaked yesterday at 7.4 metres.
00:43It's anticipated hundreds of homes and businesses have been impacted with the worst areas hit in Bundaberg East and in
00:50the city itself.
00:51There is still an evacuation centre open for anyone who's unable to return to their homes today.
00:58But the clean up is only just getting started and as you can see it's going to take weeks and
01:03even months to return this back to normal.
