00:14Now this is slightly below the 2010 flood peak of 7.9 metres, which has certainly been heartening news for

00:22but authorities say this current event will still be heartbreaking for others.
00:26Thousands of residents in the suburbs of Bundaberg North, Bundaberg South, Bundaberg Central and Bundaberg East have been told to
00:34evacuate this afternoon.
00:36280 homes will be inundated at the predicted peak of this flood and 120 businesses will have water through them.
00:44As bridges connecting to the north side of town close, some 10,000 residents are anticipating being cut off for
00:52several days.
00:53An emergency evacuation centre has opened its doors in town, while other residents are finding shelter with friends and family.
01:01Crowds of locals have come to inspect the swollen river this afternoon, but as always, authorities have called for residents
01:08to stay safe and keep clear of the deluge.
