00:00E' pericoloso.
00:46I think it's two questions.
00:47I think it definitely has a universal appeal in the way that Hunger Games has a universal
00:52appeal.
00:53I like the idea that it's the adult Hunger Games.
00:56I think the themes in it, however, are particularly American because no other, very few other countries
01:04and certainly no other country in Europe has the relationship to guns and violence that
01:09America has.
01:10So it's a very American, I think, concept in terms of how violent it is.
01:17But I think the overall movie can translate all over the world.
01:30I wouldn't commit a crime.
01:32I would buy a ticket to Rome and come here the day before the Purge and enjoy myself and
01:38not be anywhere near where they were purging.
01:40I think the Purge is a great idea for a movie, but not a good idea for society.
02:00I think the differences between the two are getting less and less.
02:04And I think that's only going to continue.
02:07I don't prefer movies or TV.
02:09There are certain shows, like True Detective is one of my favorite shows, whether it's
02:14a TV show or a movie, one of my favorite filmed pieces of content I've ever seen.
02:18So I really don't prefer one or the other.
02:20We work in both mediums and it's really fun to go back and forth because in television
02:24you get to really explore character, whereas movies you have, it's much more about plot
02:29because you have less time.
02:30So I really like being able to go back and forth and I definitely think that one is not
02:36more valuable than the other.
02:44The most difficult challenge I had is, I'm 45 years old and I was an executive until I was
02:5030 until 2000 and then I quit and I started making movies on my own and I made a handful,
02:58eight, seven or eight movies, six or seven of which you've never heard of.
03:02And at the end of that time, after about five years, I was actually going to move back to
03:06New York.
03:07I had a very specific moment.
03:09I moved to LA.
03:10I was going to move back to New York and I was going to do something else.
03:13And about six months right after I had that thought, Paranormal Activity came out.
03:18But right before Paranormal Activity was probably the lowest point in my career and I was going
03:22to think about it trying something else.
03:39So it's Paranormal Activity.
03:40If you count the marked ones as five, this is the sixth one or we're calling it Paranormal
03:44Activity five.
03:45We start shooting the movie in September and it will come out at some point in 2015.
03:54At some point next year, it'll come out either next summer or next fall.
03:57So about 12 to 18 months from now, we'll see the next installment.
04:02And the next Paranormal Activity, the one thing that we're all determined to do is a lot
04:08of the movies have answered some questions.
04:10The next one is going to answer every question anyone has ever had about the mythology and
04:16Paranormal Activity.
04:29Thank you very much.
