Mike Johnson has pushed back against the idea of sending U.S. ground troops to Cuba, saying he does not believe there is a necessity for deploying American forces. His remarks come as Donald Trump warns that Cuba could face possible military action if tensions escalate. The comments highlight growing debate in Washington over how the United States should respond to the developing Cuba crisis, with diplomatic efforts reportedly underway to avoid a direct military confrontation.

00:00This is a new topic that everyone's been debating.
00:02Look, I don't think there's a necessity,
00:04I don't think there's the appetite
00:06to put boots on the ground in Cuba.
00:08I think some of this happens organically.
00:10I think the system is in the process of collapsing
00:13because it's a socialist regime
00:15and those experiments never work, note Mayor Mondami.
00:19But listen, if it happens that there's a regime change there,
00:23we don't need American troops there.
00:25I don't believe we do.
00:26I think that that will happen
00:27and they'll be looking to change things
00:31and maybe they'll be driving vehicles
00:32that were manufactured later than 1952, very soon,
00:36and that would be great.
00:37Look, they're a close neighbor.
00:38They're 90 miles from Key West.
00:40I mean, they're a close neighbor
00:42and it's in our neighborhood in the hemisphere.
00:44The president, because of his strong leadership,
00:47brought together the Security for the Americas new initiative
00:50to take care of narco-terrorists
00:52and ensure that in our hemisphere we're safe and secure
00:54and there are so many countries bought in on that.
00:56Cuba will be a big topic of discussion
01:00and we hope that it works out well.
01:02But should we be sending a bunch of American troops there?
01:04I don't think there's a necessity for that.
01:06So that answers the question.
01:08Now, the hostilities and the military operation in Iran
01:13is limited in its scope.
01:15The president has said as recently as several hours ago
01:18that it will be over soon.
01:20It's been remarkably successful.
01:22I think I saw the number over 5,000 targets struck in that country.
01:27The leadership of the country, the regime has been turned over
01:31to a next generation.
01:32Who knows how long that will go?
01:33But they're holding the people back.
01:35They've killed tens of thousands of their own citizens.
01:38And importantly for America, the reason this is in America's interest
01:41is because they were going to strike us.
01:42And they have been at war with us.
01:45Iran declared war on us for the last four decades.
01:48They said they wanted to wipe Israel off the face of the map
01:50and they wanted to hit us as the great Satan.
01:52They've killed American citizens.
01:53They have fired upon our service members over there
01:56and our installations enough.
01:58But I think that this current operation was, by design,
02:01limited in scope and in mission.
02:03I think the mission is being achieved, is nearly completed.
02:09And the commander-in-chief himself said, in the last 24 hours,
02:12it will come to a close.
02:14So gas prices will readjust after that.
02:17You know most of this is because the Strait of Hormuz
02:19has been closed by the regime down there.
02:22But it will be reopened and it will take a couple of weeks,
02:25but gas prices will come back down.
02:27Remember, they were down almost $2.5 a gallon on a national average
02:32under President Trump, when under Biden,
02:35they were at almost $5 a gallon.
02:36So this is a temporary blip in an extraordinary trend
02:40of a return to American energy dominance.
02:42The evidence speaks for itself and it will continue to, Olivia.
02:45And we would be remiss if we did not address the shutdown
02:48of the Department of Homeland Security right now.
02:50Over the weekend, two aspiring terrorists, as you've seen,
02:53threw homemade bombs into a crowd of protesters in New York City.
02:57I won't even comment on how badly the media has misled
02:59the American people with coverage of that story,
03:01but let's talk about the reality.
03:03The more important point is that two terrorists nearly killed dozens
03:06of people with bombs and the agency of the government that is specifically tasked
03:12with defending our homeland from exactly those types of threats is currently shut down,
03:17thanks to Democrats in Congress.
03:20Those bombs never exploded, thanks be to God, and countless lives were spared.
03:24But one of the attackers allegedly told police after the attack that he hoped that it would,
03:29quote, be even bigger than the Boston Marathon bombing.
03:32There was an alleged attack, a terror attack in Austin, as you know, two weekends ago.
03:37A bomb threat at an airport in Kansas City on Sunday.
03:41And the Department of Homeland Security is warning that the U.S. is susceptible to lone wolf
03:46and sleeper cell terror attacks on our homeland.
03:50And again, I'll repeat, all the critical agencies like CISA, the agencies that monitor
03:56bio-threats and attacks on our critical infrastructure like CBP and the Coast Guard,
04:01they're all shut down right now because Democrats, as usual, are playing games.
04:05They're playing games with people's lives.
04:07We got other critical agencies like FEMA and TSA that are unfunded, experiencing significant
04:13staff shortages, and that's why travelers around the country have felt already the unfortunate
04:18effects.
04:20This weekend, airports reporting record wait times.
04:23All of that, all of that is because of the Democrats shutdown.
04:27If you missed a wedding or a funeral, you're worried about missing your flight for spring break
04:31this week, you have Democrats to blame.
04:34The Republicans have done our job.
04:36And Democrats are also to blame for the tens of thousands of TSA agents who continue to show
04:40up to work despite not having their paychecks.
04:43Those are hardworking people.
04:44They've got families.
04:45They've got bills to pay.
04:45They have real regular lives, mouths to feed.
04:49And they protect our skies and they ensure our airports are functional, and yet Democrats
04:53are blocking their paychecks.
04:54And here's the big question.
04:56Why are they doing it?
04:57Why would they do that?
04:58They know all these things are happening.
05:00Why would they do it?
05:01It's very simple.
05:02They keep showing us over and over.
05:04Why is FEMA unable to process new grant applications for natural disasters?
05:08Why are our airports so congested and unreliable?
05:11Why is our homeland so vulnerable to threats?
05:14The answer is simple.
05:14Because Democrats have made the conscious political decision, crazy as it is, by word
05:21and by deed, to protect criminal illegal aliens over hardworking American citizens.
05:26That's it.
05:27Democrats have dragged the American people through multiple shutdowns now.
05:31First to protect, remember last time, in the longest shutdown in history, last fall,
05:34their argument was they wanted to protect health care benefits for illegal aliens, and now
05:38they've jeopardized the security of every American citizen to keep criminal illegal aliens
05:43in our country.
05:44They want to fight the Department of Homeland Security and the rule of law.
05:49It's wrong and it's dangerous, and we pray that the Senates and the Democrats put the
05:52safety of their constituents over the demands of the far left radical base in their party
05:56that they run in fear of, and vote to reopen the Department of Homeland Security immediately.
