00:00Casey is great. I've been friends for a long time. We worked together for the first time in 2000. He's
00:06one of my favorite actors. I just think he's very special. He's very good for this part. And I'm really
00:12looking forward to doing a movie with him.
00:13He's one of these actors who, he's not a show-off. He's not especially narcissistic, except anyone in the arts,
00:22including myself, is bound to be somewhat narcissistic. He's not interested in putting on a show. He's really interested in
00:29acting, and he's really interested in being emotionally truthful. He's got a great sense of humor. He's very handsome. He's
00:36very devoted to what he does.
00:39Because we've worked together before, so I know we speak a common language. I just think he's one of the
00:44most interesting actors around, so I feel very lucky he's doing this part, which is extremely challenging.
00:50I like to rehearse as much as possible, with as much time and money as we can spare. I like
00:57to spend on rehearsal. I like to try to rehearse for three weeks if possible with the actors, three or
01:01four weeks if possible.
01:02You don't usually get that chance. But when I film Margaret, we rehearse four or five hours a day for
01:08three weeks, and it's incredibly valuable.
01:11If you have, I mean, if you have a cast that's substantial, good actors, they usually generally like to rehearse,
01:18especially if the material is emotionally challenging.
01:23And on a set, a movie set, at least the ones that I've been on, there's very little time for
01:29serious rehearsal, and the time that we've spent rehearsing on my other two films was just invaluable.
01:38Because you know what you're talking about when you get to the set, you know what the basics of the
01:42scene are, and then you can go from there, rather than going from nowhere, into something that you haven't explored
01:49yet.
