00:07I think when I'm
00:08in this neighborhood, I'm always
00:10amazed, like I am in
00:12New York, that everybody doesn't
00:13wake up and kill each other.
00:15So here's a place where
00:17there's a diversity of
00:20experience, a diversity
00:22of possibility, a diversity
00:24of history, and somehow
00:26stuff gets
00:28done. Somehow
00:30people cooperate with each other.
00:32And I think it does have to do
00:34with a basic
00:36generosity
00:38of not only
00:40this neighborhood, but of Italians
00:41in general. You know, Italians
00:43have traveled over the world, and you go any place
00:46in the world, and you find an
00:47Italian. And why'd they go there?
00:50Because they were
00:51going there for opportunity.
00:54So I think somewhere deeply
00:55Italians understand this
00:57impulse to go
00:59someplace to leave their home to better
01:01their life. So you have this
01:03extreme generosity, but you also have
01:05this kind of rigidness
01:07of tradition. And I have
01:09both of those elements in me, too.
01:11But believe it or not,
01:13you won't find it so hot
01:15if you ain't got the
01:17do-re-mi.
