00:30sticks and things we're looking at pruning uh things like roses deadheading anything like
00:36buddliers um or hydrangeas um turning over soil but be careful in your borders that you're not
00:43uh disturbing kind of bulbs that you're hoping to come through this year
00:46um and thinking about planting as well but is there a formula to getting good grass uh i think
00:54personally that it's pretty simple you know grass is pretty hardy um and i think if you just do a
01:00couple of very simple things then you're going to have a very nice lawn first is uh like i say
01:05be
01:06careful about how uh short and quickly you're cutting it if it's too wet leave it just leave
01:11it to grow cut it short in stages secondly after that once the weather starts warming up a little bit
01:17we would like to scarify it and rake it so we can try and get rid of any moss that's
01:22growing in there
01:23um and then after that uh potentially add a moss killer um and then also a lawn conditioner and
01:30for 95 percent of gardens that's probably all you need to do to have a lovely green garden for the

02:51key in keeping outdoor spaces resilient throughout the year right okay well andy tell us a little bit
02:57about wildlife and creating some safe habitats in your gardens this year yes uh and actually this is a
03:02really common trend that we're seeing now which i'm personally really happy with so um you know wildlife
03:07insects animals uh no mow may for example very uh popular thing at the moment in my in may don't
03:15mow your
03:15grass don't do anything just leave uh leave it to the insects this really encourages pollination
03:21fantastic for everybody's garden um using natural um kind of deterrence for pests and things uh coffee
03:30grounds and uh sheep's wool is actually one uh but steering away from pesticides and things like that
03:36there's a big decrease in astroturf at the moment because people are more conscious about living in
03:40harmony with the wild and actually that's um that's a really good point it's living in harmony with the
03:46wild right instead of curating your garden quite so much just let it go a bit more wild and certainly
03:52with nesting season cutting hedges and things uh you need to be really careful of uh birds nests and not
03:58disturbing not disturbing them and also actually this year and in the past couple of years there's been a
04:04really big push towards sustainability and wilding i felt the warmth of the sun the other day and i was
04:11most surprised i'm very excited
