03:50in mccaffrey last year 17 red zone touchdowns of the 49ers 43 43 red zone touchdowns is a lot they

03:58top five in red zone percentage so it wasn't that they weren't good in the red zone but when you
04:04scored almost half the time you gave it to christian mccaffrey so you can't really rely on that again
04:09this year he had so many touches last year you need to have more of a diversified approach especially
04:15without a full year of george kittle and you're gonna have you know a tight end who's gonna be in
04:20there and hopefully they can be productive but you only had seven touchdowns by wide receivers in the red
04:26zone and they all were juan jennings and those touchdowns are probably walking out the door so
04:30it would be nice to have an offense where like you're saying you know it's first and goal at the
04:36five or whatever it is and you don't know what the team's gonna do because you got evans you've got

04:41tight end you've got mccaffrey you've got use check you've got all kinds of options as a niner team and
04:46i think the red zone's where evans is going to give maybe his biggest impact um i'm looking by the

07:26college and it was time if the niners really wanted to be in the juan jennings business beyond
07:33last year they would have handled that in in august um or same goes the other direction juan would have
07:41i don't know he would have taken whatever the hell they were offering um which uh which he didn't do
07:46and i wonder i went like boy wouldn't you love i'd love to know what the niners were offering and

07:51didn't take and then put it up against wherever he goes next because he is got a little teeny bit
07:59of draymond in him where i just gosh he had such a specialized deal with the 49ers and third and
08:06juan and all of that i'm really curious to see how he's deployed wherever he goes next i think he'll
08:12be deployed in a lesser fashion and that's going to be the challenge for juan jennings because i think
08:18that his true value for the 49ers was in his feistiness and you talked about the draymond comp
08:24that's not a bad one because juan jennings is a willing blocker and when he's out there running routes
08:30he's going to catch it and he's going to seek to inflict some pain and you think about the wide

08:36they've had debo samuel same way cut from the same cloth and even christian mccaffrey is a guy who
08:42doesn't shy away from contact so i think that the niner way quote unquote is very physical and
08:48it's kind of that style and so when you think about who you're going to have mike evans is a
08:53great example he's a guy who's a very physical wide receiver a willing blocker and so juan jennings
08:59will need to go to a system that has kind of a similar style because he's not a speed burner

09:05not a big time uh separator you were talking earlier about separation and routes he's a very
09:11capable receiver but honestly he's probably mostly a wide receiver three for a team i don't think he's
09:18going to be anyone's number one that's how he won't be there too that's how the 49ers envisioned him
09:22also right but he probably wants to go out and get you know more money and more touches and the

09:28it that's always that classic thing and i think that's what juan got stuck in you know juan comes out
09:33of not this last year but he comes out of 2024 uh essentially in a thousand yard receiver i know
09:40he finished a few yards short because he got thrown out of that last game against the arizona cardinals
09:45but he essentially put up a thousand yards and then he goes into the negotiation into august and he's got
09:50the air quotes calf strain and then he goes into last year and he doesn't go for a thousand yards

09:57he becomes again one of the 49ers top performers at the wide receiver position but it was often
10:03because of everything collapsing around him right the the year before um i you gets hurt
10:10debo's in and out of the lineup ricky pierce all is shot this year i you never shows up pierce

10:17misses half the year they're like grabbing wide receivers off the scrap heap every other week kendrick
10:23born russell gage who knows who they're throwing in there and so juan performs again but he wants to

11:23know you're going to shop those numbers but if you watch football as all these gms do you're going
11:28to see situationally the reality of the situation which was all right no iuke all year you mentioned
11:34pierce all who wasn't able to play that much robinson's uh was suspended early you had a little
11:39flashy kendrick born and beyond that juan jennings was one of the only mainstays but at the same time
11:45you also have to look at the fact that he played through five broken ribs throughout a majority of the
11:51season and he is a willing blocker he's a guy not afraid to mix it up so i definitely think

11:56a fit out there for him on a certain team i don't know what team that will be so it's
12:02up to the agent
12:02to not only shop the numbers but shop the tape as well and that's partly why i i'm fascinated by

12:09mike evans thing because you know he comes here and he realizes look they're not going to have
12:14jennings probably iuke is going to be gone so i'm going to get whatever touches i want i'm going to

12:20the lion's share of catches whatever catches that he wants or targets he's going to get his share the
12:26niners don't throw it a ton although last year they threw it more than they normally do i think they're
12:31going to need to keep doing it more and more and you got ricky pierce all who's a good young

12:36and beyond that you've got demarcus robinson and not much else so as far as mike evans goes you have
12:42a shanty in offense you have a quarterback who's now paid and who he's shown to be you know better

12:48top half he's top 10 i think he's probably not top five but he's good enough and the system is
12:55great and so it becomes an easy easy place to go for mike evans um i want to uh this

15:17to ricky pierce all he when he has played has shown that he has the ability to be fantastic
15:26and i legitimately mean that fantastic and he started the year off this year fantastic and then he got hurt
15:34and i've never seen a player because the injury was essentially the same injury he injured it then he
15:41came back and he re-injured it it's the same injury i've never seen a player have this much kind

15:48around his neck based on an injury he got hurt he got hurt in year two don't give me year

15:55he should have the opposite reputation you're giving him he got shot and played 11 games 11 games after
16:03being shot 11 games i mean he didn't do much till the end of the year no but i just

16:09people are talking about him like he's brittle he got shot and played 11 games i just i i am

16:17in on ricky pierce all i couldn't be more in on ricky pierce i'm in when he's in but he's
16:23out a lot and
16:24last year he was out a bunch and he he hurt his knee and he came back and he hurt

16:30a hamstring and he had injuries in college and so i'm just not that bullish on his ability to play

17:18camp supposedly missed the entire thing like like ricky he got shot and he missed the first six games
17:25because he got shot he came back and he had three good games and then he had zero zero zero

17:31in five straight weeks and catches that's because he's a rookie he wasn't getting that but he was
17:35playing he was active right he was active but he was you know a non-factor yes and that was
17:40after he
17:40came back from the gunshot he's a rookie and he missed camp and the first half of the year because
17:45he got shot but you came back and had three pretty good games and then you had five really nothing
17:51games yeah he didn't get he wasn't like i mean i'm just saying that to use the gunshot for okay

17:57you got shot and you missed the first six games i can't imagine what it's like getting shot he came
18:02back and he played football yeah and when he played football he was mostly inconsistent his rookie year
18:08he had three good games five nothing games and he ended the year with an absolute bang no pun intended
18:14and then last year okay ricky let's roll up the sleeves four games got hurt came back played
18:21three games missed a game this is kyle's system how many years did it take brandon to pop
18:26uh maybe two yeah if that if that he had a monster year his second year no he didn't he
18:33was in the
18:33doghouse his second year because he went for 700 yards and came back with an attitude
18:38they benched him 700 yards his rookie year yes okay yeah like 826 the next year
18:44yeah i mean that's but he dog housed him for the first half of the year and he still had
