00:303, 2, 1...
01:031 second quicker than Hathley at the intermediate split, but the big thing is, can he sustain it?
01:08As we look at Odin Kogut off the start ramp there for the NSN cycling team.
01:14Punchy rider, he'll be looking forward to the sprints over the next couple of days.
01:18TT, probably not his forte, but definitely...
01:20Oh, he's laid it down!
01:22I hope he's alright, he looks okay, he just looks angry.
01:25And that, the way it went away from him there, that was instantaneous.
01:30He just gets straight on it, looks like his chain's gone as well.
01:32Look, watch the back wheel here.
01:33Do you know what?
01:34He didn't...
01:36Just drifted out.
01:37He actually lifted his backside off the back wheel when you should be planting your backside.
01:43Did he ground a pedal?
01:44It's...
01:45He's not going to get it.
01:46I think he might just be shy, as you say.
01:48He'd have to be 30 seconds at 500, wouldn't he, in order to get that.
01:52And that cushion is rapidly disappearing, still 200 metres to go.
01:55So, yeah, I'm afraid the clock's going to go red against Jan Christen.
01:58But talk about setting your stall out for the remainder of the race, where he's on form.
02:02You mentioned it, Matt, in Strade Bianchi.
02:04He is going to be one to watch here.
02:07Despite the early start, this is not bad at all.
02:10That's good time in the bank.
02:11Yeah, nine seconds shy of the time of Hathalie.
02:14A little bit quicker than a Tratnik.
02:17In fact, a del Toro.
02:18Is it del Toro is starting, perhaps, earlier than he would have hoped for?
02:22If he wants victory in this race, strange time, really, just as the wind is changing.
02:27But maybe they have a line to the weather gods.
02:30And he looks like this is indeed delivering.
02:34Certainly in terms of his demeanor coming off the ramp.
02:36He wants this.
02:37Takes a long time to actually settle himself in.
02:39Gets there, Matt.
02:41He's in that classical position right now.
02:43Now he needs to park up any doubts and just get his mind thrown down the road.
02:48But what an effort.
02:49It's been a big effort.
02:50Again, Hathalie has put in a heck of a performance.
02:52Top 10 in this last year.
02:54Isak del Toro went out very fast.
02:56But I think he is going to pay for it.
02:57Still going to be, amongst the GC riders, an exceptional performance.
03:01But it isn't going to topple the time of Hathalie.
03:03No, it's not.
03:04It's going to be close.
03:05But I'm afraid.
03:07I'm noticing, oh, this time by.
03:09But terrific.
03:10He's going to bend in to second place, surely here.
03:13Strong ride by Isak del Toro, who has, of course, a lot of other tools in the bank.
03:18And Hathalie can't believe it.
03:20He's thinking about the leader's jersey.
03:23How will I look in pink?
03:24Well, right now, he's in royal purple.
03:27He's going to be buoyed by the fact he's the national champion stripes.
03:34Here we go, then.
03:35This is going to be big.
03:37He's not the national champion of Colombia for no good reason.
03:41And the only reason he's starting so early is that the team is racked full of time trial specialists.
03:45He means business.
03:45And you can see, by the way, he's attacking the corner.
03:48That, indeed, was the biggest trim of an apex we've seen so far.
03:52I'm just going to put him inside the top four, I think.
03:54And also, he's got Eko Bastians just in front of him as a marker.
03:57I mean, he'll be on his maximum effort again.
03:59But to have a rider just in front of you, you've got that little bit of assist from the slipstream,
04:03which you'll be in now.
04:04And it'll improve.
04:05So he'll try and stay as close behind him as he can to get as much benefit.
04:08It's going to be a good time, though.
04:10Yes, it is.
04:11Grossartner brings it in.
04:12But I'm afraid it's podiums he can only dream of here for the time being.
04:16Stops o'clock.
04:17Third quickest for Grossartner.
04:22It's Sheffield.
04:24Magnus the Magnificent.
04:25And he's going to have a big advantage at the turn here.
04:30Sheffield takes his time, gets himself into a position where he can attack the remainder of this course.
04:36He takes the switch back at a six second.
04:39Well, he's rowing it home with, what, 300 minutes to go.
04:43He's not going to get there.
04:43He's going to be out by about 10 seconds, I reckon.
04:46Let's wait and see.
04:48We've been...
04:49This foreshortening of the camera can cause all kinds of visual optics.
04:53He's going to get there.
04:54He's going to be very tight.
04:55It's Manu on Manu at the line.
04:56Oh, look at that, same time, but who?
04:59And Valsheim gets it.
05:00We think we'll wait and see if there's any kind of adjustments.
05:04What a race we have got here.
05:06We said there'd be one and two, and so they are.
05:09But how do you separate them?
05:10They've been given the same time.
05:11They're going to have to go and to the thousands here.
05:15But Valsheim has been declared.
05:17That's your from the pool.
05:19This is a name that you always know.
05:23Whenever it's uttered, it means full commitment.
05:26Doesn't matter what.
05:28A good time trialist.
05:29He can be when he's absolute best.
05:32He's still got 300 metres to go with just about 20 seconds.
05:35That's where he'd have to be, and he is at that point,
05:39but I think he's going to be about a second out at the moment,
05:41but it's anybody's guess.
05:43Certainly full commitment.
05:44I think he might just get there, actually.
05:45Look at this.
05:46Clock's still with him, and he takes the lead of the race by four seconds.
05:50That was a bigger margin than I thought it would be.
05:53We have a new leader.
05:55Wow, what a performance by Titeman-Arendsman there.
05:59Primoz Roglic.
06:01What are we going to get?
06:02No idea.
06:03Well, the way he jumped onto the bars then,
06:06I think he's going to give it absolutely everything.
06:08You know, Roglic can, yeah, can do anything, can't he?
06:11It's time, and time is what it's all about.
06:14In the race of truth, is there anyone better than this man?
06:19Garner comes off the ramp,
06:21and now he has to do one of the things that he does best,
06:25and he does many things very, very well indeed.
06:28Time trialling is certainly up there.
06:30to see such a talent in action.
06:34And indeed, Pippo Garner is going to come in
06:36and take the lead of this race.
06:38Let's see how close he is, shall we,
06:40to 57 kilometers per hour by the time he finishes this one.
06:43And he's going to be finishing any moment now.
06:45Now, Pippo Garner, fate him, appreciate him.
06:48Oh my goodness, 56.868 kilometers an hour,
06:54as near as damn it to 57 for the run.
06:57That was absolutely remarkable.
07:01That was absolutely remarkable.
07:03That was absolutely remarkable.
07:06That was absolutely remarkable.
07:18That was absolutely remarkable.
07:18That was absolutely remarkable.
07:19That was absolutely remarkable.
07:19That was absolutely remarkable.
07:20That was absolutely remarkable.
07:20That was absolutely remarkable.
07:21That was absolutely remarkable.
07:21That was absolutely remarkable.
07:23That was absolutely remarkable.
