00:02Last year, Charlie Hosking's cancer treatment at Perth's Children's Hospital was made a
00:08lot more bearable with her young Kelpies for Kids companion.
00:13Charlie became Yip Yip's master trainer under the guidance of Celebran working dog breeder
00:19Gordon Curtis.
00:20The trio spent months preparing for the auction at the Perth Royal Show.
00:25Along with seven other children, the working dog trainers and the Kelpies for Kids program
00:31not only raised $50,000 for children's medical research, it also helped create an awareness
00:39of the hardships country families face when their sick children have to spend time away
00:45from home.
00:46Supported by the Royal Agricultural Society, the program is now looking for a new batch
00:52of young master trainers to link with the breeders and their Kelpies.
00:57We leave it very open to what suits the family, the child and the trainer.
01:02So, if some want to go to the farm each day or each week or whatever for a catch up,
01:07that's
01:07fine if that suits both parties.
01:10Last year, Kelpies for Kids trained and auctioned young dogs but the feedback from buyers was that
01:17they weren't quite ready for stock work.
01:19So this year they're choosing two to three year old Kelpies, like Jesse here, who they
01:25think will be more up to speed by the time they auctioned at the Perth Royal Show in September.
01:31The Kelpies for Kids trainers and their dogs will demonstrate their new skills at the Perth
01:37City Muster to be held at the Claremont Showgrounds in July.
