00:00Hello there, welcome to the second episode of Putting Dr. G on the Spot
00:04when we are just focusing on the men in order to work out what are the best way
00:11in order to enhance the fertility.
00:15So the fertility in men is simply measured by the quality of sperm.
00:25The quality of ejaculation is divided into three parts.
00:29Number one, the number.
00:31Number two, the morphology.
00:33Number three, the motility.
00:35Only the combination of these three, you have enough number of more than 15 million
00:40and enough motility of more than 40%
00:43and enough morphology of normal head, neck and tail of more than 4%,
00:49then a man is considered fertile.
00:52So the big question is, how often is the level of abstinence
00:58in order to make sure that sperm quality is enhanced?
01:01So if you save all your sperms, is it good for you?
01:06Or if you frequently ejaculate, is it better for sperm quality?
01:11The answer is yes and no to both of them.
01:14Why?
01:15Let's say if somebody is actually having no ejaculation between 10 to 12 days,
01:21then there are a lot more sperms, but the qualities are not so good
01:26because there are lots of DNA damages, the morphology is poor
01:30and a lot of sperms are sluggish.
01:33So therefore, saving it in order to make sure there's lots of number
01:37is not particularly a good thing.
01:39However, too much of frequent ejaculation, for example,
01:44ejaculating on twice a day or three times a day
01:48actually will deplete the number,
01:50but it will have a fresh number of sperms that actually is delivered
01:56because the newer sperms are more active
01:58and a lot of them actually have better morphology.
02:02So what is the best timing?
02:04In fact, the best timing is ejaculating between one to two days
02:08as often as that.
02:11Why?
02:12It's because the fresh sperms will ensure morphology and motility
02:16and also the number is better whenever it's accumulated
02:21after one or two days
02:22and that is maintained consistently
02:24if somebody is ejaculating between one to two days.
02:28Therefore, in combination with last week
02:30when we were talking about frequent sexual interval
02:34between the actual menses time in the mid-cycle of ovulation
02:40and on a daily basis between day 10 to day 16,
02:44then you'll ensure consistent supply of good sperms
02:48during that period of time.
02:49So for the following week,
02:51we want to know if you have problems
02:54with the timing of ovulation.
02:56For example, if somebody's ovulation times
02:59because their menses is irregular,
03:02how do you capture that time
03:03in order to enhance your fertility?
03:05Stay tuned for next week's
03:06Putting Dr. G on the Spot.
