01:19assets and build but he's a great player i think he's a great teammate the we've you know you

01:31know practice rinks and visiting rinks and when his name comes up to teammates you can just hear how
01:37genuinely like they adore this guy so yeah hanging on to that and not giving that away for cents on

01:44dollar was the right move and i think i think chris trury had a reason to value him as high

01:50did uh he's he's a great player and a great teammate yeah i think that i think that the urgency

01:58referred to was probably more so about the center market right now and we kind of saw that over the
02:04last couple days of of what it kind of turned out to look like um i think that they believed
02:11that
02:12they could set a high price point for trocek and they could possibly uh maybe overcompensate a
02:19little bit for what they didn't get in the artemi panarin trade because obviously they were a little
02:23handcuffed in that situation um so they were probably drury was probably looking to overcompensate a little
02:30bit and get a an even bigger haul than than i think a lot of other teams were willing to
02:35give up uh
02:37obviously minnesota was was a team that we had heard was was in it kind of from the beginning and
02:42it was it became pretty clear that they set jury set a high price point for for for trocek and
02:50they
02:50weren't going to make the trade just to make the trade and um the price point that they set wasn't
02:56met so um i think that this was a possibility that they always thought could happen um but that being
03:04said i do think it could make for an interesting situation just because we've seen what happens
03:12in the past when a player who has been told that they want to you know move on from from
03:17him and
03:18you know then he's allowed to walk back into the locker room we saw it with jacob truba and it
03:22makes
03:23for a an interesting dynamic and and probably a difficult dynamic for players to fully commit to to what's
03:31going on in the locker room so i think that trocek has been a consummate professional the entire time
03:36um he has shown absolutely zero indication that he wouldn't you know be giving 100 to this team so
03:44long as he's here for the rest of the season um but i just think it's you know it's always

03:51bit of a risk to be sending that kind of dynamic back into the locker room do you not agree

03:58his name's out there and you're honest from the start and i can only go back to what my own
04:02experience was with ray shero and in new jersey and with steve eiserman in tampa um when your team's
04:09at a certain point and you are of value you're going to hear your name of course you know out

04:15and when you're a player like troc it's going to be out there more because more fan bases are going
04:23to want to hear about if he has a you know if there's a potential path for them to get
04:27that
04:27player um certainly i think you know i don't want to speak for you guys but writers are probably going
04:33to be interested other teams if there's a connection you know if you're writing for minnesota you know
04:39if you're russo in minnesota and you're writing for right you're going to try and find every piece
04:43of information you can now and if that is a potential fit or it could potentially happen right like
04:47that's of course and so the buzz comes up and at no point does that mean you're a bad teammate
04:52or the
04:53team doesn't want you anymore of course not yeah if you lose games it's like you have to make changes
04:58and you you know if you if you're losing games and you're not like a big piece of a team
05:03that's losing
05:04games your value is not that high i'm sorry like yeah i mean unless unless you're sam carrick who
05:11right i mean look at the list of guys he fought like what he does on that team look at
05:15the minutes he
05:15plays like he never complains he's gonna have value and he goes to buffalo buffalo had a targeted
05:23approach to the trade deadline it's like we have all this skill we always get all this skill we've
05:27had all this skill for a long time we've traded away a ton of skill that's gone on to win

05:32what was their environment like okay well the guys that we traded down into florida
05:38are big tough heavy team they're mean and they all sort of fell in line like uh the guy that

05:42traded to vegas went to a big tough heavy team that were really mean and they want to come
05:47okay let's make ourselves a big tough heavy team we get carrick we get shen we get stanley
05:53troach it's like he's a tough heavy player who's got a lot of skill and he's just won the gold
05:58medal
05:58and he's had playoff success so it's like right we always loved you we signed you to this deal because
06:04we love you but that's where we were but we weren't going to give you up for nothing
06:09it would have had to be a ton of stuff coming back to us because we still value it that
06:13much so like
06:14between i guess i'm saying a long way of saying is between player management it should be fine
06:20unless they're like dangling in front of them in the offseason now and the next trade or whatever
06:24like that's not yeah that's you don't want to jerk back and forth like that yeah that's my only thing
06:28is you know now you i think you know i'm always thinking about how i'm sure especially you could speak
06:34this as a player you want to hear that you're you know you're valued and you want to you know
06:38you want to be kept here and especially in this sort of situation where it's a they keep calling
06:43it a retool and it's not like a total rethink so like wouldn't you want to tell him that you

06:55obviously it doesn't always work out that way but my other concern with the whole situation is
07:01is is jury going to be able to get the same types of deals that were on the table this
07:07time around
07:07for trochek in the offseason or if he's able to get that extra piece or two that i'm assuming that

07:14was looking for um you know because then we risk dragging this out further into the offseason and
07:23you know if you're not able to get those deals those offers back you know to begin with then you're
07:30just kind of in a even more of a sticky situation now well yeah but i mean so you know

08:33so that's probably a money thing and then a pretty highly touted goalie prospect like right if anything

09:45concerns with with you know sending a player back into that room after making him go through all that
09:51and i think that he'll handle it maybe better than truba did i mean that he can only hope
