00:00Do young Europeans really tend to vote left rather than right?
00:08The answer might be neither.
00:10The vast majority of people aged 16 to 39 gravitate around the political center,
00:16with the highest rates of centrism reported in Italy and Germany.
00:20Spain stands out for having the biggest left-leaning sentiment among young people,
00:25with 28%, siding either with the left or the far left.
00:30On the other side of the spectrum, Poland has the largest right or far-right-leaning group at 35%,
00:37closely followed by France with 33%.
00:40Both also have the largest percentage of young people who identify with the far-right specifically,
00:47as well as the most frequently reported political divisions.
00:51In France, 59% say this clash of ideals often takes place among peers,
00:58while in Poland, age differences are more likely to trigger political friction.
01:03Yet, across all five countries, one common thread emerges, a strong sense of European identity.
01:10Some 85% of young people say they feel European, either unequivocally or to some extent.
01:17Italy and France, however, show comparatively higher levels of skepticism,
01:23with nearly one in five people declaring little or no connection to Europe at all.
