00:00The latest that is just coming in, Sri Lankan Navy that has rescued Iranian sailors.
00:05The Lankan Navy has carried out a daring rescue operation that was caught on camera.
00:11We are playing out those pictures as US bombed Iranian warship.
00:16It was the Sri Lankan Navy that came to their rescue.
00:20Sri Lankan Navy that rescued Iris Dina, the Iranian ship.
00:24And those are the first pictures of how the Sri Lankan Navy rescued Iranian soldiers
00:28who survived the torpedo attack on the Iranian warship, Iris Dina,
00:33that was carried out on the 4th of March.
00:36About 19 nautical miles of Gyal, 32 survivors who were brought ashore following the attack.
00:43Those are the pictures of how the Sri Lankan Navy came to the rescue of these Iranian sailors.
00:49They rescued them, they brought them out, they took them for immediate medical help
00:54and they were rushed to the hospital.
00:58This after the torpedo attack by US against Iris Dina, several sailors who lost their lives
01:06but 32 of them who survived and they were rescued by the Sri Lankan Navy.
01:14Those 32 survivors who were brought ashore following the attack
01:18and they were immediately rushed for medical help.
01:21There you see those visuals of the exact operation that was carried out
01:26and most importantly how the Sri Lankan Navy came to the rescue after Iris Dina was struck by the US.
01:33These pictures first on India Today.
01:36Remember, Iris Dina on the 4th of March, about 19 nautical miles of Gyal,
01:43saw a hit by the US torpedo and several sailors who lost their lives in this attack.
01:51But 32 of those sailors who managed to survive, they escaped
01:55and it was the Sri Lankan Navy who immediately came to their rescue.
02:00They brought these sailors out.
02:01They got them ashore and then rushed them for immediate medical help.
02:14Rania Pandhyay joining us from the newsroom to take us through the details
02:18of how the Sri Lankan Navy came to the rescue of these sailors
02:21and how they conducted this operation.
02:24Suyesha Sri Lankan Navy is carrying out this rescue operation.
02:27In fact, many sailors, those who have lost their life in that torpedo attack
02:30by the United States, you know, submarine attack,
02:35they have lost their life and in fact they have been shifted to the morgue in Gale
02:39and after that the Sri Lankan Navy is also providing assistance
02:43to those of the Iranian sailors, those who have survived.
02:46And this was the first incident.
02:49And in the second incident, the Nader ship, the cargo ship or the supply ship
02:54of Iranian Navy, IRIS Bushar,
02:58it was also given assistance by the Sri Lankan Navy
03:01because that ship also gave a distress call.
03:04And besides, the Sri Lankan president, Anurad de Sanayake,
03:07also issued a statement saying that, you know,
03:09we would be defending the rights of those who are struggling
03:16for the life and those who are in high seas
03:18and in fact we urge all the warring parties to exercise restraint
03:21because international waters should not be used as a battlefield
03:25and, you know, these are the international waters
03:27and in fact these are free for navigation
03:30and therefore that freedom of navigation should not be jeopardized
03:33in this battlefield
03:35and this should be restricted and contained to a certain area.
03:39But you know that, you know, U.S. Department of War
03:42and U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hexet has said
03:45that this war was never meant to be fair
03:48and he said that we will hunt down every naval asset of Iran
03:51and in fact in last 24 hours, you know,
03:55United States has announced that they have sunk yet another ship of Iran
03:59which was playing as a mothership, you know,
04:02for the drone attacks
04:04and that was of a size of an aircraft carrier
04:07of like, you know, of Second World War vintage.
04:10So that was a big ship, yet another ship has been sunk
04:13and sunk by the American forces
04:17and in fact if you see the number has risen to almost 21 ship
04:21and one submarine of Iran.
04:24So Iranian Navy has lost all these assets
04:26and as per the United States, Iranian Navy is almost, you know,
04:32being decimated by the American strikes.
04:36Oh yes, absolutely.
04:37But certainly the Sri Lankan Navy that came to the rescue of those sailors,
04:4232 of them who managed to survive,
04:44remember 87 of them who lost their lives in this attack.
04:47In fact, the Iranian authorities that are now requesting Sri Lanka
04:52to send back the bodies of those 87 sailors
04:55who lost their lives in this attack.
05:00It was Iris Dina that was targeted by the US
05:04and take a closer look at those pictures,
05:06how the Sri Lankan Navy really came to help these sailors.
05:09They got them to the shore first
05:11and then put them on these stretchers,
05:14rushed them for immediate medical health.
05:16This is, we understand that the Iranian authorities
05:19have been watching very carefully
05:20and they've also requested that the bodies of those 87 sailors
05:24who lost their lives in this attack should be sent back.
05:27But 32 of those survivors who managed to escape this attack,
05:31but they could have probably not survived
05:34had the Sri Lankan Navy not come to their immediate rescue.
05:38The damage was massive,
05:40given how the torpedo attacked Iris Dina
05:43and this has certainly a big victory
05:45that the US calls for itself
05:47as they continue to retaliate against Iran.
05:50Iran monitoring the damage very closely,
05:53but here the Sri Lankan Navy
05:55coming to the rescue of those survivors,
05:58of those sailors,
05:59and 32 of them who managed to survive.
06:01everybody-
