00:01The Football Association of Malaysia, FAM, has expressed disappointment
00:06following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS,
00:11involving appeals filed by the association and seven footballers.
00:15In a statement issued Friday, FAM confirmed it had received the operative part of the award from CAS,
00:22but said the sanctions imposed appeared disproportionate compared with similar cases previously handled by the Court.
00:30FAM added that it will assess the matter further once the full written decision is released.
00:36The association said it had accepted responsibility for oversight failures during the proceedings
00:43and will continue cooperating with ongoing investigations by federal authorities and FIFA.
00:49FAM also stressed that the players were not involved in the administrative process
00:55and were unaware of matters related to the documentation.
00:59CAS partially upheld the players' appeal, ruling that their 12-month suspension will apply only to official matches.
01:07However, CAS dismissed FAM's appeal, meaning the association must still pay a 1.8 million ringgit fine.
01:15FAM said it will review the full written decision once it is released,
01:20while thanking fans for their continued support during what it described as a difficult period.
