00:00The Football Association of Malaysia, FAM, has accepted FIFA's decision to reject its appeal over the documentation of seven Malaysian heritage players.
00:13Acting FAM, President Datuk Mohamed Yusof Mahadi said on Monday that the association will write to FIFA to obtain the full written reasons behind the decision before considering its next move,
00:25which could include an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS.
00:30He said, this is the first time FAM has faced such a case, adding that both their legal team and management were shocked by the outcome.
00:39However, FAM remains committed to defending the rights of its players and the interests of Malaysian football at the international level.
00:47The seven players involved are Gabriel Felipe Arrocha, Facundo Garces, Rodrigo Holgado, Imanol Machuca, Joao Figueredo, John Irazabal and Hector Hevel.
00:59FIFA's appeals committee confirmed that it had analysed the submissions and held a hearing before deciding to dismiss the appeal and uphold the sanctions.
01:08FAM was fined 350,000 Swiss francs or about 1.8 million ringgit, while each player received a 2,000 Swiss franc fine or about 11,000 ringgit and a 12-month suspension from all football-related activities.
