00:32On the first charge, Ilyas is accused of soliciting a 1 million ringgit bribe from a 60-year-old businessman
00:39named Yap Yao Kuen as an inducement to select Aerolux Power Construction Sendirian Bahad as the winning bidder for the
00:46tender.
00:47The alleged offence took place at the MSC office in Sri Petaling on February 24.
00:53The remaining six charges relate to alleged bribe payments received from the same individual, totaling 450,000 ringgit at the
01:01MSC office and at a restaurant in Pavilion Bukit Jalil between February 25 and April 13.
01:08Ilyas faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act, as well as
01:15fines of at least five times the bribe amount, or 10,000 ringgit, whichever is higher.
01:20The prosecution sought bail of 200,000 ringgit and requested that Ilyas surrender his passport, report monthly to the MACC
01:29and stay away from prosecution witnesses.
01:31His lawyer argued for a lower bail, citing his client's suspension from work and family responsibilities.
