The FIFA appeal committee has upheld all sanctions issued against the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and seven players involved in the use of falsified documents for national-team eligibility, calling the offences a fundamental threat to the integrity of international football.

In response to the latest decision, FAM said it will take its case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

00:00The FIFA Appeal Committee has upheld all sanctions issued against the Football Association of

00:14The committee on Tuesday released a document on its decision, saying that attempts to forge
00:19documents to deceive governing bodies strike at the very foundation of football's integrity
00:25and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
00:28It said eligibility rules are essential to maintaining fairness, credibility, and global
00:34trust in the sport.
00:36They said there were no grounds to overturn the FIFA Disciplinary Committee's earlier decision
00:41issued on September 25.
00:43All appeals filed by the players and FAM were dismissed in full, and each appellant must
00:48bear their share of 8,000 Swiss francs in proceeding costs.
00:53Beyond upholding the sanctions, which include a 350,000 Swiss francs fine imposed on FAM,
01:00they said the evidence provided compelling reasons to open further inquiries under the
01:06FIFA Disciplinary Code.
01:08They instructed the FIFA Secretariat to begin a formal investigation into FAM's internal
01:14operations.
01:15To identify those responsible for the falsified documents, the committee also directed the
01:20FIFA Secretariat to notify the relevant authorities in Brazil, Argentina, the Netherlands, Spain,
01:27and Malaysia, so that potential criminal proceedings may be pursued.
01:31In response to the latest decision, FAM said it will take its case to the Court of Arbitration
01:37for Sport to ensure fairness and uphold the integrity of Malaysia's player eligibility
01:42process.
01:44Acting FAM President Datuk Yousaf Mahadi said,
01:47FAM remains committed to defending the rights of players who qualify to represent the national
01:52team and will pursue the matter professionally, transparently, and through proper legal channels.
