NFL teams trying to clear cap space started cutting players yesterday, but Rob, Ed, and Jeremy tell you why there are NO names from the cap casualty list that should wind up in Baltimore.

00:00Some cab casualties in the National Football League, Jeremy.
00:02Any of them tickle your fancy?
00:04I mean, look, if you're looking for a center in the Linderbaum,
00:07things are not going to work out.
00:08You saw the Cowboys moved on from their guard center.
00:12It's tough because, again, even looking at people that know a ton about football,
00:16and I would say everybody in this room knows a ton about football,
00:19when it comes to interior linemen, how many could you name?
00:22Yeah, not a lot.
00:23You know, it's not a cop-out.
00:26Nobody brings up their name except for the best ones in the league.
00:29Or the worst.
00:30Yeah, for lately.
00:32No, evidently not.
00:33He's going to get paid.
00:34McCobbe Beckton.
00:36McCobbe Beckton is the worst.
00:38But, again, I think this Ravens team has always done well with street-free agents.
00:43They don't want it to affect the compensation picks.
00:45And when it comes down to it, I can see them, as I call it, the dented can theory.
00:49You go out and you get the ones that are dinged that don't cost you a ton.
00:53Hey, this is a discount.
00:54I'll take this for a year or two.
00:56And I feel like with the system that they could have in place with Minter,
00:59whether that's defense or even offense with Doyle coming in, that you can mix and match
01:04and find the right pieces to make this work.
01:06But they have their work ahead of them.
01:07Because the first thing you have to get done is this Lamar contract extension to know what you have.
01:12Raven fans have united, Ed, because no one has said anything about Stephon Diggs.
01:17Not a peep.
01:18Not a peep.
01:19They finally united.
01:20By the way, I would be more...
01:22I think you would have a couple years ago.
01:23Yeah, I would have been more interested in Alec Pierce, Darnell Mooney with Atlanta.
01:28Who else do we have there?
01:29There's another deal.
01:30Oh, Rashid Shahid hasn't worked out a deal with Seattle.
01:33I would be interested more in those guys than Stephon Diggs.
01:37Yeah, me too.
01:38Plus, Shahid, because she's a returner, too.
01:40I was just going to say, yep.
01:42Yeah, no one wants Diggs.
01:43Diggs, his better years are way behind him, in my opinion.
01:47And on top of that, he's bringing some baggage that probably Baltimore just doesn't want.
01:52We're not that kind of city.
01:53You know what I mean?
01:54They don't want that.
01:57There's no real casualties that, other than who you named, Jeremy, that I'm interested in right now.
02:04I think I'm more interested in the draft.
02:06If they work out a trade for somebody, okay.
02:09But there's no one.
02:10I mean, out of the street agents, I'm not.
02:12I mean, the street free agents, I'm not working.
02:14I'm glad you said that, because I was hoping we weren't just going to have to pick somebody.
02:17Because I feel exactly the same way.
02:19I looked at the people who were released.
02:21I'm like, yeah.
02:23It doesn't affect this team at all.
02:25And nobody there.
02:26The biggest news, I mean, there were some big ones.
02:28I mean, Kyler Murray getting, you know.
02:30Nope.
02:30Getting a walkie pay.
02:31No, no.
02:31Obviously, we don't need him.
02:33But the McDuffie trade just kind of blew me away.
02:36The cornerbacks are so highly prized.
02:38He's a two, not one, two-time All-Pro.
02:40And they felt fine saying, nope.
02:42That's what they do in Kansas City, man.
02:43Yeah.
02:43They don't pay them cornerbacks.
02:45Now, let's go back to, I asked you guys this yesterday.
02:49With Kyler Murray.
02:51A lot of people are talking about Miami.
02:53Yeah.
02:54Is Miami willing to roll that dice again on an undersized quarterback?
02:57And I'm not saying undersized quarterbacks in the National Football League are a problem.
03:01Russell Wilson was outstanding.
03:03Drew Brees was outstanding.
03:04Baker Mayfield.
03:05He's undersized for being undersized.
03:07Yes.
03:07He is.
03:08But it didn't work for them.
03:10So, normally, when one doesn't work, do you go to the same style?
03:14You normally go opposite of that style.
03:16Yeah.
03:16They should go out and get Brock Osweiler's six, seven asses.
03:18He's still alive.
03:19Anyway.
03:20Again, like...
03:20He's broadcasting.
03:21Is he?
03:22Yeah.
03:22So, with the way that things set up for Miami, I question what they want to do in the offseason.
03:28Because they're sitting there with an opportunity.
03:30They basically cut all their good players, or a lot of their good players, with a chance for,
03:35as everyone called it, the March for Arch, right?
03:38Do you want to be the team that gets the number one pick when Arch Vandy's coming out?
03:41And I don't even know what type of pro he's going to be, but you have that last name, which
03:45makes people interested.
03:48I think he's going to be pretty fine.
03:49I think, to be honest with you, I think the hiccups that he had last year are going to
03:55make him better this year.
03:56I do.
03:57I think he's going to have the season, this upcoming season, that we thought he was going
04:00to have that last year.
04:00You're talking about Arch.
04:01Arch.
04:01Look, I believe in the kid, but he looked more like an athlete than a thrower of the football
04:06that first year with Texas.
04:08I'm not saying he couldn't throw the deep ball, but there were a lot of times where
04:11I felt like he looked more like Cam Newton playing football than a pocket passer back
04:16there.
04:17He was taking off and running a lot.
04:20And that may not last long, but it'll get you drafted in the first round.
04:23Oh, I don't doubt that.
04:25I think he's going to be the number one overall pick regardless.
04:27Yeah, I think.
04:28But that's what I'm saying.
04:29Nothing wrong being Cam Newton.
04:30If you're Miami or you're the New York Jets, how do you perceive this season coming in?
04:34Because I'm sure Aaron Glenn wants to win.
04:36I mean, he just had a terrible season, right?
04:39Yeah.
04:39The New York Jets, yeah.
04:40And with Miami, you've got a brand new coach.
04:43Maybe he's willing, if the ownership's saying, hey, look, we understand this is going to be
04:46a bad season.
04:47We need to get through this, but we're set up for this next year.
04:50I could see a bunch of that stuff happening, them moving other pieces, including the ones
04:54they already cut.
04:54Would you want to take a job where they're telling you year number one or year number two
04:59is going to be bad?
05:00We want you to take it.
05:00Would you be willing to take that job?
05:03Not if I had a two-year contract.
05:04I would definitely want it, yes, because I think the best jobs to take are turnaround
05:11jobs, where you can do, you have some minor successes and look like a genius because places
05:19so burned to the ground.
05:20So yeah, there is an advantage to doing that.
05:22But see, here's the deal.
05:24If you're taking a turnaround job where you're in control, that's fine.
05:28If you're taking a turnaround job where someone is telling you, no, we're going to suck for
05:32about one or two years because we want more draft picks.
05:34You're not in control of that.
05:35I don't want to take that job.
05:37Well, I mean, if they say like, if it's like that, then they're talking about it's borderline
05:41tanking.
05:42Yeah.
05:42You know, that they don't want to succeed.
05:44You know, it's going to build up draft capital.
05:46Yeah.
05:46If I'm turning around, Jeremy, and I'm in control of the turnaround, yeah, I'll take that.
05:51But if you're telling me you have a plan, I got to follow your plan for the first year
05:54or two, I don't want to take that job.
05:56I got you.
05:57I mean, some guys, though, like we've seen it before, it's like, take the job.
06:00Certain guys, like we've talked about in baseball with Albie, and then of course, Ben Johnson
06:06with the Lions, when he turned down jobs because he knew he was good enough to get the job he
06:11wanted.
06:11And when Chicago opened up, he's like, that's where I want to go.
06:14And I think the same thing with Jesse Minter here.
06:16I think, you know, turning down other jobs, looking at this is where he wanted to go, because
06:20you look at the organization and the success they've had.
06:22Greg Albanese, I know a different sport, but he turned down jobs until he got the one he
06:26wanted.
06:26But there's a lot of guys that don't get the opportunity.
06:28They turn down a job, and all of a sudden, it's like, man, I don't want him now.
06:33So sometimes you got to take the one that you get.
06:37I ain't taking that.
