Old knife hits the rope
Transcript
00:09okay so the knife is apparently a Tramontina which is Brazil not the best
00:20made knife in the world I would say that's probably a budget knife of some
00:25sort the factory edge was pretty horrendous sold as old display stock so I don't
00:39think it's being used the handle is just just a little bit cramped you know my
00:48kingdom for another 10 millimeters of handle so I did not see I went online
00:57to see Tramontina and I could not find this knife anywhere so I'm not sure if
01:04that means that it's really old you know how old I don't know maybe 1970s or 80s
01:13or something I don't know all I know is I couldn't find an image of it but I had
01:20to go buy it didn't I there's a few little niggles on there and like I said that
01:28factory edge was pretty horrible I put it on the whetstone grinder so there's
01:36probably a few little niggles on the apex oh yeah I can definitely feel one there
01:44with my nail it's definitely maybe a little chip or something on the apex and
01:50the whetstone grinder would not have helped with that especially with the 80
01:54grit wheel on there but let's see what this thing can do I did not come with a
02:04sheath so I've had to order one for it from you know good old China but let's
02:11see what this thing can do let's see what this thing can do on the rope hey
02:34you

04:40Oh, there's definitely a spot there.
04:44I think it's right about there.
04:49It wants to fail, but it's not doing it.
04:52It's failing to fail is what it's doing.
04:55It's actually failing to fail.
05:00Oh, there we go.
05:02We've bent the paper, twisted a little bit and...
05:11Definitely, definitely, definitely just a teeny-weeny little bit of tearing there.
05:22I'm going to call it that because normally I would pass it, but I think the blade profile
05:28with that hollow ground is just really slicing the rope really, really well, and it's slicing
05:35that paper really, really well, even though that edge has suffered.
06:03I'm going to call it a little bit.
06:11Let's see how it feels on that paper now, eh?
06:20Oh.
06:20Oh.
06:28That's better.
06:29There could have been some apex deformation.
06:34If there was, it was a small amount because now, according to my finger, that feels a lot better.
06:40So there could have been at 500 or starting around 300.
06:45It might have been just deforming that apex just a little bit, in other words, edge roll.
06:50But that's really good performance for whatever hell.
06:56An old Brazilian knife.
07:01I'll take a nice photo of this.
07:04I don't know if you guys can see that on a digital camera or not.
07:08It's from Montana, from Spain, so I don't know if we can see that.
07:16Nah.
07:16Look at all the information.
