Chaotic scenes unfolded during actor-politician Vijay’s visit to Thanjavur, with frenzied supporters tearing through police barricades and breaking protocol in a rush to get closer to his vehicle. Visuals showed security personnel struggling to control the swelling crowd as hundreds surged forward, briefly disrupting arrangements. Vijay was scheduled to address Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) functionaries from eight Assembly constituencies in Thanjavur. The meeting, set to be held in a 10-acre open ground near Sengipatti, is expected to see participation from nearly 4,900 party workers. Police have granted permission subject to 52 conditions, making QR code entry passes mandatory and restricting attendance to authorised participants between 11 am and 3 pm.
