00:00What big leaguers are jumping out to you in spring training right now?
00:03You know, there's a lot.
00:05And I mean, first, I think just to start,
00:09Freddie Peralta, three perfect innings as Mets debut
00:12to piggyback off what you guys just said.
00:14And that was-
00:15You know what? Extend him.
00:16Yeah, let's wipe the last eight minutes.
00:18And then that was a day after Nolan McLean threw five,
00:22sorry, four innings of one hit baseball.
00:25And that duo, I mean, like that's just,
00:28they're similar in the sense that the stuff is gross.
00:33The stuff is just insanely gross.
00:35And I'm very excited to see that duo play out.
00:37But to go to a different division rival,
00:41Spencer Schreiber, very interesting.
00:45Velocity does not look good.
00:48He was sitting around 93 miles an hour in his first spring appearance.
00:51He was sitting 95 last year in the big leagues.
00:54He was sitting 97 in 2023.
00:5623, it's just been a, and it's, it's, it's hard to watch.
01:03Although I will say, Schreiber did mention
01:05that he's not necessarily focused on velocity right now.
01:08He's focused on spin, or sorry, shape.
01:12But it's still definitely something to keep in mind.
01:15Yes, 100%.
01:16Aram, I want to throw this your way.
01:18How concerned would you be in a VLO dip from Schreiber
01:20this early in spring, we're talking in the first week
01:24of the month of March?
01:26I'm not as much compared to like some of the stuff I've seen on social,
01:29because I also think you have to look at Strider and who he is.
01:33He's a guy that is very unique in his approach.
01:36And I think is, I mean, I was just watching the Marlins,
01:39you know, one of the pitch, pitch design sessions,
01:43where those guys will throw out about like 80%
01:45and they're focused on spin and they're focused on shapes.
01:48And for a guy like Spencer Strider,
01:50who I think is very keen on it being different this year,
01:53I wouldn't be surprised if he's kind of going in there
01:55thinking about that exactly.
01:57Now, if we're getting three more starts out here
02:00and it's getting closer to the season
02:01and he's still sitting at 93, I'd be a little bit more concerned.
02:05But I'm going to give Strider a little bit more grace here
02:07because I think he's capable of running it up higher if he wants to.
02:11And I do think that this is probably just a little bit
02:13of a different approach for him after a year
02:15where it was very frustrating for him
02:16to try to enter it a little bit different.
02:17It doesn't strike me as the type of guy
02:19to go into the next year the same way
02:21if it didn't go the way that he wanted it to.
02:23Yeah. Who's your next guy, Peyton?
02:26I want to focus on some young guys now.
02:28Now there is some bleed into the prospect realm,
02:31but it isn't guys you guys have touched on.
02:34On Thursday and Friday, Chase Burns, Rhett Lauder,
02:37Jose Franco, and Chase Petty combined for nine and a third innings
02:42of one run, two hit, 14 strikeout ball with 35 swings and misses.
02:48Wow.
02:49The Reds' B rotation is obscenely gross.
02:54Yeah, it seems like it.
02:56And Lauder is someone that fascinates me.
02:58Burns is a clear breakout candidate for so many people right now.
03:02But what does a good year arm in your eyes look like for Rhett Lauder?
03:08Health.
03:08I just think the floor is so high.
03:10If he struggles to run prevent the way that we were hoping
03:16in Great American Ballpark and he pitches to a low fours,
03:18I don't care if he's throwing 140, 150 innings.
03:23I will say, and this is a V-low spot where I am looking at it
03:27coming off of all the injuries that he dealt with last year,
03:30he averaged 96 miles per hour in those 30 pitches Rhett Lauder did.
03:33That is a great sign when it's four-seamer, sinker,
03:36and then the rest of the arsenal.
03:38You know he's going to command, he's going to move the ball around,
03:40and he's going to have a disgusting changeup and a good slider.
03:42So for me, it's all about the health.
03:44I think the ability is clear-cut at least a four-starter in the big leagues,
03:47and it looks like in the early going now he's healthy
03:50and the arm's feeling alive.
03:51We got about a minute left.
03:52Peyton, you got one or two more guys you want to throw at us?
03:55Of course.
03:56So Cole Reagans looked awesome in his spring debut.
03:58His velocity was up almost two miles an hour,
04:01and he went back to more of that bullet slider shape that he had in 2023
04:04rather than the curveball-y shape he had the last two years.
04:08I mean, as you know, Reagans was dominant in 2025.
04:13All of the results weren't quite there.
04:15And to stay with the Royals,
04:16Jack Haglion popped his third X velocity of the spring over 115 miles an hour,
04:21including one at 120.
04:23His MLB max last year was only 114.
04:26So he's seen the ball well.
04:28He's hitting the ball well.
04:29Okay.
04:30Reagans, then Caglion, Aram, you got 30 seconds.
04:33Go.
04:34I'm still all in on Cags.
04:36Well, first of all, if Reagans is healthy,
04:38biggest X factor I think potentially for the Royals.
04:40But Cags, give this guy some grace.
04:42If the swing decisions are half decent,
04:43I think he's going to have a monster power here in that ballpark.
04:46I think he's going to have a monster power here.
