00:00Newly published figures from Durham County Council show vacancy rates have increased across nine of the country's town centres in
00:072025, bringing the overall rate to 19.1%, above the authority's target of 13.9%.
00:16Peter Lee recorded the highest proportion of empty units at 40.8%, up from 38.4% last year.
00:25Bishop Auckland rose to 35.4%, while Newton Acliffe stands at 26%.
00:32Stanley, Ferry Hill, Concert, Barnard Castle, Durham City and Siam also reported increases.
00:39Chesley Street and Spennymoor saw reductions, while Crook fell slightly and Shildon remained unchanged.
